Who will be this year's break-out player in spring training?

With tomorrow's game being the first spring game on TV it made me wonder who will be this year break-out player in spring training? Every year it seems some one comes from nowhere, and opens some eyes(Charles Thomas 2004, Gregor Blanco 2008).With the obvious favorites being Schafer & Hanson who do y'all think will be 2009's spring break-out player?(I'm not asking who will make the team. I'm asking which prospect will have the most productive overall spring).

My Guess

Either Freddie Freeman or Boone Logan.

Diory Hernandez. He’s gonna get a lot of playing time with Chipper at the WBC.

Schafer

At this rate he’ll hit 162 HR this year.

But seriously, I want to see hime tear it up and get a spot in center next year. I like Anderson, but if we could turn him into something halfway useful in a trade….

as in next year you mean 2010 correct… if so im all for that… i dont think it will happen… but i think it would be great for his development

Heyward,Hanson, and Shaffer r ready now!! Why do you think they havent signed the "right handed bat"?

I like dramatic Irony

So I’ll go ahead as say Brandon Jones and Jo-Jo Reyes will have big springs.

Don't Know

I’d like to see Brandon Jones have a good spring, but i think there is just to many holes in that swing, and Jo-Jo is not off to a good start.

He’s off to a good start, and looks to be playing with a vengeance!

I was with you until you said Glavine. I’m not even sure he’ll pitch in ST. I think he might still be hurt.

I thought he might be healthy enough to be ready to start now in ST but im not sure though. You could be right he may still be hurt.

If

Schafer makes the team out of spring training as the starting CF then we will have to many outfielders. Diaz will stick around because of his pinch hitting ability but will Anderson get sent back down to AAA.

by jack dein on Feb 26, 2009 12:50 AM EST reply actions

Anderson

Would have to clear waivers to get to AAA. He’s out of options.

The Braves would likely have to trade him.

by mburris1 on Feb 26, 2009 1:23 AM EST up reply actions

I didn’t know he was out of options and he would not clear waivers. He could probably net a good bullpen arm and a mid level prospect though.

by jack dein on Feb 26, 2009 1:39 AM EST up reply actions

Doubt we’d get much in return for Anderson. He basically has the same status he did when he got traded to the Braves for only Oscar Villareal – but older.

Yes, but he’s played with the Braves since then…meaning he has increased stock with Kansas City and Washington.

I think Washington is just short of their 10 outfielder quota. (recycled joke)

nice

We should have signed Adam Dunn.

by Smoltz's Beard on Feb 26, 2009 10:17 AM EST up reply actions

I think Hanson is gonna continue his success from the AFL and have such an ungodly spring that he forces Glavine to retire.

Also, Charjo Reyton will impress and get slots in the pen.
