This is a glimpse of Brooks Conrad, the minor leaguer that's been mentioned a few times. Oft compared to Dan Uggla, for his stocky stature, and penchant for power hitting. According to his MLB.com bio, he plays third, and switch hits. With Chipper going to the WBC, I'm sure he'll get a little more PT than should be expected.

At first it looks like he has a big swing, but he pulls his hands through the zone pretty tight. There is an upper cut to it, though.

Wow, I realize it’s just one swing but if that is typical I can see why he’s compared to Uggla.

My little brother is a huge A’s fan and he was very angry Conrad didn’t get more AB’s and PT at 3rd base last year when Chavez was out. He really likes this guy a lot and he would know, he is a minor league baseball junkie. I hope he has a good spring and we see him in the Majors for a bit.

at first
it seemed like that was a fly ball to shallow left field …
I kept wondering “why is he still running? that ball didn’t travel more than 250 feet”
I guess he has a really powerful uppercut because he really got under that one.

He’s 28, so he’s by no means raw young talent. He floated around the Astros and Athletics organizations, and had a couple call-ups here and there, and became a free agent after last season. The Braves picked him up on a minor league deal back in November.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Looking at his stats
What happened to his OBP? It went from average-pretty good over the first 5 years of his career to really, really bad over the last 3 years.

He gets a lot of notice
Because he’s related by law to one of the SBNation bloggers, namely Dex, the guy who co-runs Gaslamp Ball for the San Diego Padres.
