The past couple of days with Dunn and Abreu signing has made me think that we will be entering the season with who we have right now. The three major players that have been talked about in trades have all been shot down. The Yankees want to much for Swisher plus they won’t pay any of his contract, Nady is a rental, and Ludwick doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.

They already wanted too much for Swisher depending on who you believed, and it stands to reason that with increased leverage, they’ll demand even more.

Exactly why the Braves won’t do the Swisher trade……FW should look at other trading partners (B Young-Min,Willits-Ana,Luke-O’s,Thames-Det,Cust-A’s,Cards-Ankiel,WAS-Dukes/Kearns/Pena) which would match up better than overpaying for Swisher IMO….

We will see but I think FW will be going to ST with what he got and then evaluating LF situation to either pick up Griffey/Anderson FA options or waiting till later in the season for a trade opportunity when teams are dumping salaries…

I agree, I don’t see why the Braves would go after Swisher like they are. He is a mediocre player, at best. Has only hit over 250 a couple times, not the guy the Braves need to lock down the next 3 years. He would be a great role player, but thats not what they need at this point. I think they either need a legitamate leadoff hitter, or a 4 hole guy. Swisher is a 7hole hitter at best.

Sticking a guy that gets on base 35% of the time for his career in the 7th hole…genius

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Tsk Tsk

You know that BA is the ONLY TRUE measure of batting skill.

That and RBI.

I would say that Escobar, Johnson, Chipper, McCann would hit before him, IF, and I do mean if francours year last year was a fluke, and he can hit 275 or higher, he will hit before Swisher, so that puts him at 6 tops.
