Around SBN: Hugh Douglas Admits To Stealing From Jaguars

Remembering back to the last time the Braves filled their roster with veteran stop-gaps, one of them being Raul, the other was the second-go-round with Brian Jordan. That led to the Baby Braves. Could 2010 turn into a Braves Braves Boomlet?

Do not refer to Jason Heyward as possibly being a "baby"

He’ll show up in your room and beat you with his almighty bat.

I used to like Frank Wren...not anymore. I want John Schierholz back!

Good point

Can I safely refer to him as a “man-child?”

by gondeee on Dec 23, 2009 3:04 PM EST up reply actions

That probably works

I just call him Beast, but I would think Man-child works too!

How interesting.

Keep the posts coming Gondeee. I can’t seem to quench my thirst for all things Braves related.

Spring training is too long off.

by Sparhawk on Dec 23, 2009 3:03 PM EST reply actions

Please can we get to spring training.

I haven’t been this excited about a Braves squad in about 10yrs now; we have as good of a shot as anybody in the NL and MLB. Everyone is going to favor the Yankees but I am not sold.

Hmm…?? You build a new couple of millions or billion dollar stadium and you win the WS in the same season ? I call conspiracy on that one.

Phils you better look out and finally maybe we can close Jimmy Rollins mouth.

I love Rollins for his mouth.

He’ll just go out and say it. I respect him. He is just a great guy to love rooting against.

I expect Schafer will be a young man on a mission this year and will be a June-July call up after raking at AAA.

by fandave on Dec 23, 2009 3:12 PM EST reply actions

I wonder what Schafer has been up to? Is he completely healthy? Hope this kid can bounce back. The braves desperately need a leadoff hitter.

by Sparhawk on Dec 23, 2009 3:32 PM EST up reply actions

Have heard zero, but I’m right there with you hoping. I think he’s gonna be a badass player and very soon.

by fandave on Dec 23, 2009 3:43 PM EST up reply actions

no, he's not healthy...

if my memory is good, he can resume “baseball activities” after the new year.

by Mr. Sanchez on Dec 23, 2009 7:28 PM EST up reply actions

Last we heard was early November...

And that was that he was expecting to get his cast off by early December, which was ahead of schedule.

Overheard in press box, from local reporter: 'If this Moore kid was any good, they'd be up 31-0 right now.'

Good stuff

We were just talking about Raauuuuuuuuul!

If Albert played in the AFL, they’d have to rename it the AZ/NM Fall League, based on where his homers landed.

I remember that year very well. That was the year that the Braves were doing so-so until one Sunday afternoon against Baltimore (in Baltimore? I can’t remember). They came roaring back from about five runs down and never looked back. That was the year McCann came up and took Johnny Estrada’s job. One hell of a season. I think Frenchy came up that year, too…

What a ridiculous game that was.
