MATT HOLLIDAY
Frank Wren should go large with the bes bat available...MATT HOLLIDAY
Matt Holliday hitting in between Chipper and McCann *shivers*
I think the Braves will end up being happy with D Lowe, he's a very good pitcher who will fix his mechanics and produce like a top tier pitcher next year. Rotation of:
JJ
Hudson
Lowe
Hanson
KK
Wags closing
lineup:
Prado-2b
Infante-1b
Chipper-3b
HOLLIDAY-OF
McCann-C
Yunel-SS
Diaz-OF
McClouth-OF
Pitcher
seems like a pretty POTENT lineup to me...plus we save money by having Infante at 1B. Bring up Barbaro onteh bench with D Ross, Brooks Conrad and B Jones (and whoever else), and we got the makings of a very strong team.
MAKE THE MOVE FRANK!!! GO FOR THE HOLLIDAY PRIZE!!!

Bay might make more sense for us, given that he could probably be had on a 3 year deal and won’t command as much yearly. If we clear Melky and sign Bay, that leaves room to sign Delgado as well. A lineup of
McLouth
Escobar
Chipper
Bay
McCann
Delgado
Diaz
Prado
would be solid and our pitching is still very strong

I doubt that Bay goes for three years.
He has turned down on offer for four years and has a second offer for four years on the table. At more per year than we want to pay as well.
red sox are out of it and he has little to no interest in playing for the mets

But he isn't going to turn down an extra...
…$20 million to play for the Braves instead of the Mets.
wanting something and getting something are entirely different things. We wanted to move Lowe not Javy, how’d that work out

Hell, he WANTS six...but see above.

Holliday is overrated.
He showed the kind of player he really was with the A’s. He did well with the Carinals, but I think it was just a hot streak.
DeRosa would be the best option. Play him in left, and Melky in right until Heyward is ready. Also, re-sign LaRoche. All this is now possible thanks to the Vazquez deal.
DeRosa is also overrated.
He is versitile, but not that good defensively anywhere. While his bat is good for a second baseman, it is pretty meh at 3rd, 1st or a corner outfield position.
Yeah, Holliday had one of those 5 month long hot streaks that guys tend to have … But he did have a bad month, must be overrated.
Jason Bay
will be a member of the Braves in the coming weeks.
I used to like Frank Wren...not anymore. I want John Schierholz back!
I'd be sooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MATT DIAZ IS THE F**K*NG MAN.
They made me change my signature...
seriously?
or are you being sarcastic?
I’d take him for a 3 year deal in a heartbeat. I’d trade sub-par defense in LF for 30+HRS and a .375OBP or so. Schafer and Heyward in CF and RF will be studs. I think we can live with not so great defense in order to boost our lineup.
Plus, IIRC, Fenway always messes up UZR with the short fence in LF. I’m not 100% sure tho.

me too
there’s no way in hell I’d give him the 5 year deal that he wants, but I’d consider a 3 year or even a 4 year if he wants less money per year.

I just don't see him taking $15-$20 million less...
…than what the Mets are offering and I don’t see us offering more than $50 million. I just don’t see it guys.
frank wren sucks ass he is never going to do that unless god gives him some power

Sigh….
People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.
We could sign LaRoche still, but he has always been a second half player. We need someone in the OF that’ll be better than the Frenchy/Anderson line-up we had. Would a trade to the Cubs for Derrek Lee involving Melky Cabrera and some prospects be out of the question? Nady might be okay if he stays healthy.
Our OF is set.
Melky is great as a fourth OF, McLouth and Diaz are there, and Heyward will start in right either from the start or in June. While he is down, Melky will handle it.
I know it would take a lot of moves, but would the Tigers have any interest in a Lowe, Freeman, possibly Schafer deal for their Cabrera. That would still leave the Braves with 10 mil to sign a 5th starter or let Medlen take a crack at it. With the Vazquez deal done, we definatly have the cash for Cabrera if they take Lowe.
Why would the Tigers get rid of their best player (presumably in order to dump salary) in order to take on an aging, underachieving pitcher who would burden them with a crap contract?
