I guess Norton won't be coming back next year? We are replacing him with Joe Thurston.

Good signing.
If I recall correctly, he started off pretty well for the Cardinals, but then slumped badly. I think he could do alright filling in for Chipper occasionally.
not a bad a signing at all…joe plays good defense and can steal some bases for us…

4 lifetime SBs with 2 CS.
Here are Pujols's stats: 1.000/1.000/4.000/5.000. That's right. He is batting a thousand, with a thousand OBP (naturally), and every hit has been a home run, and thus his OPS is a perfect 5.000.
not bad.
seems as though FW hasnt forgotten to fill out our bench after all. Thurston looks to be Prado’s replacement now that Prado is the fulltime starting 2B.
So our bench is now
1. Ross
2. Infante
3. Thurston
4. ?
5. ?
Im guessing they will determine the last two spots during Spring Training. We could use another OF’er
Excellent call
Fangraphs had a post about him, and the fact that he’s about league-average both offensively and defensively, and he can play all four corner defensive positions.

Oh, and he'll probably cost < $1mil

Exactly.
Hinske hits righties well, and Diaz hits lefties well. Sign a left fielder or trade for one, and platoon Diaz and Hinske in right until Heyward is ready. For the remainder of the season, they will both be valuable guys off the bench.
Good signing. He’s not a stud but he’s probably got a good shot at sticking as the other utility infielder. He’ll definitely be better than Diory Hernandez.

There is literally nobody who plays baseball who could be worse than Diory.

At least he could take a walk.

I hope that’s sarcasm and you’re not actually judging a 25 year old off a few weeks in the Major Leagues that he clearly wasn’t ready for. Check his AAA numbers, he’s a good player, he just wasn’t quite ready. It happens.

When it comes to his ability as a major league player right now, yeah I am.
He had 200 decent ABs in AAA. I’d like to see him repeat those numbers this year to actually consider him a legit candidate to be on the 25. Not that he can’t or won’t get there, just that he’s not right now.

An idiot who feels they know everything off...
a small sample from a players first stint in the majors.
