Braves waiting to deal Lowe
Jon Morosi at Foxsports says the Angels and Mariners are potential fits for Lowe. They have Juan Rivera and Jose Lopez respectively, who the Braves could have interest in.

Yeah, I'd love either of those guys for Lowe.
MATT DIAZ IS THE F**K*NG MAN.
They made me change my signature...
Jose Lopez
the same Jose Lopez who had an OBP of .303 in 2009? And in his 4 full seasons has a career high OBP of .322?
In 613ABs, he had 24 walks. 24 WALKS. That’s one walk every 25 or 26 ABs. So, basically, he’s gonna walk once a week.
Yeah, he had some nice power numbers, but I’d rather add to a position of need — 1B and OF — than improve a position we’re already set at.
In Frank Wren I trust.
So he is an upgrade over Francoeur then?

yep
but thats not saying much lol.
Im just sayin if we’re gonna add a 2B with some pop i’d prefer Uggla. He at least gets on base from time to time.

Wo wo wo...
Jose Lopez is a completely different baseball player than Francoeur. He doesn’t STRIKEOUT. Sure, he doesn’t walk much but thats because he is always making consistent contact. I pray we trade for Lopez because it could be the steal of the offseason. I read somewhere that a scout said if he wasn’t playing at Safeco he could hit 35-40 homeruns. Its common knowledge that Safeco is a terror on right handed sluggers. Just look at his home/road splits
I would love to take Jose Lopez since he batted: 272/ 303/ 463 25HR 96RBI… he produces some pop and he can play 1st base

Those numbers are bad for a first baseman.
That’s a .303 OBP. That’s just horrible. He has some power, but really is only worthy of a starting spot on a major league roster because he plays a premium position. Shame he is a butcher at that position. I’d pass on Lopez. But hell, if the Mariner’s take all of Lowe’s salary, I’d keep him as a bench bat. Or move him on to someone else.
Who do you expect to get from D. Lowe?

nobody good
basically, I think it’ll turn out like the Soriano deal did.
It seems like FW is just trying to empty out the books. And if you think about it, we really don’t have any bad contracts on our team if we can rid of DLowe. Chipper is an icon and makes a lot, but it’s understandable and he’s gone backwards to help out the organization.

Nothing.
I just question whether Lopez’s arbitration contract is a negative. And where do we play him? As an everyday 1B he is a negative. I have no problem trading Lowe for Lopez if the Mariners take almost all of Lowe’s salary and we turn around and move Lopez.
