What are you up to now?

So, the season is over. Boo hiss, we all know October baseball is more fun, but life goes on. Which begs the question, what are you up to now, ie. TV, books, and the like. How are you being your inner Rogers Hornsby and staring out into the cold and waiting for the spring? I guess I'll start this off:

TV: I've gotten into How I Met Your Mother, still watching Lie to Me, and Deadliest Warrior

Books: I've got to read The Things They Carried for school, but I just finished How Soccer Explains the World. Good book.

Movies: I want to go see Invention of Lying, Zombieland, and Law Abiding Citizen. Any thoughts on which I should see if I could only see one?

Other than that, school is going to rule my winter. What about you guys?

Getting reaquainted with my wife first and foremost. I’ll get settled into my tv shows: Heroes, The Office, Ghosthunters, and i’m giving Community a try. Of course, nascar is still on as well. I’ve got a birthday coming later in the month, so hopefully i’ll have a Wii game or two to get started on-maybe Muramasa, Punch Out, or Wii Sports Resort. My baseball card hobby keeps me into the sport through the winter as well.

I do want to see The Informant! and Zombieland, but i usually end up seeing them in the dollar theater, not seeing them at all, or on tbs edited in 3 years.

Movies: Go see Zombieland, that movie is ridiculously fun. The first 20 minutes of The Invention of Lying are among the best 20 minutes in movie history, but after that it just…sucks. I just saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and that was surprisingly great. And I’m watching Last Tango In Paris on the DVR. So far, pretty odd. And I can’t wait to see Where The Wild Things Are. If it’s half as good as the trailers it will be outstanding.

TV: The regular goodies, House, The Office, Family Guy, and some new stuff like Community and Titan Maximum. The Cleveland Show is one of the worst things I’ve seen on TV in awhile. Saw a preview for the new season of The Venture Bros. last night and almost pooped myself in excitement.

Books: Just finished Youth In Revolt cause I wanted to read it before the movie came out. Not the greatest book, but it was entertaining. Started on Vonnegut’s short collection Welcome To The Monkey House, which I’m guessing I’ll love like everything else of his. And, just finished writing my own novel, which hopefully I’ll be able to self publish before the end of the month.

Good call on the Cleveland Show. They cancelled King of the Hill so Seth MacFarlane could have 3 shows back to back. Come on! Did they really think anyone would rather see an hour and a half of straight Family Guy humor over the excellent writing and character development of KOTH?

True story

I was driving home one day, and the freeway that led to my part of town was closed off. It turns out that there was a zombie flick being shot there, and sure as hell, it was Zombieland. Film credits include Atlanta, GA and Newnan, GA.

Television: Watching to finality the horrendous charade known as The Colony. Still watching Dexter, still watching Weeds, and not much else.

Books: To continue with the zombie trend, a book called Patient Zero. Also recently read Sucker Bet by James Swain, and A Person of Interest by Susan Choi.

But there’s not enough hours in the day, or so it seems for me lately. I have a backlog of writing to write, pictures to process, and several freelance side projects on top of my current freelance assignment. Always feels this cramped this time of year, with the sun beginning to set all early now.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Speaking of movies

I just watched I Love You, Man. It got a ton of love from the critics…so naturally, it wasn’t that great. The story was good but it wasn’t funny at all. I think I only laughed out loud twice, and this is coming from a guy who woke 2 people up the first time I watched Borat cause I laughing so hard.

My two favorite college basketball teams?

1.) The Hoosiers
2.) Whoever is playing against Purdue.

But even I have to give Purdue some props. Matt Painter is one helluva basketball coach… you guys really pulled a rabbit out of your hat on that one. There is just something about when a player-alum comes back to coach his old team. Probably why I really wanted Steve Alford to come coach IU… but hey, we got Kelvin Sampson lolwut?

That’s alright, though: the Crimson and Crean Show is about make it all better. };0)

ur obviously joking…because they are horrible… and they lost their best scorer and best rebounder… its not a skill problem (IMHO)…its a problem with the attitude of the team, they look lazy on the court, they don’t move on offense and dont stop the ball in transition or get back on defense after the missed shot (which there are a lot of).

They have a total of 5 Big East wins in three years… what is the upside to this season 5 wins, which still won’t put us in the NIT

:)

I think our hoops team is about where our football team was about 2002-ish…up and coming but still quite a ways away.

We did get a good win last year, and we also stole a recruit from NCSU, so that is kinda of a big deal, i guess.

Flashforward in on Hulu

And I love it so far. All kinds of +1age to everyone here who posted reviews of it.

Did anyone go see the movie Paranormal Activity in ATL last Thursday? They had a 12AM limited release screening, definitely one of the scariest movies I’ve seen. Watch for me in the trailer (possibly), a film crew interviewed people waiting in line and I looked dumb enough for them to ask me…

Biding my time....

waiting for college basketball to start.

TV: The Office, Renovation Realities, Real Estate Intervention, Hoarders, Intervention, Community and waiting on 24 to start up again…I have about 4 episodes of Heroes DVRd, but I am debating on actually watching them or not.

Movies: I still need to catch up on some of the movies that came out this year. I need to see Inglorious Bastards still and also The Informant.

Books: meh, I don’t read books NEARLY as much as I used to. I have about 5 or 6 books that I have been working on for a while now.

Sports: I am enjoying watching the resurgance and rebuilding of my Jaguars, the dominance of my USF Bulls and the title defense prep of my UNC Tar Heels.

From now until the 1st week of January I will be busy obsessing over my favorite NCAA football program, Boise St. Broncos. Go Orange, Go Big Blue! After that it will be time to start gearing up for the Hot Stove Season and Spring Training again…WooHoo!!!!

Hey! Boise State is my team too!! SWEET!

People will come Ray. The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again.

Idaho is my home state. I was born there and lived there until I joined the service. I can’t help but pull for the Broncos. Chris Petersen has a great thing going there and as good as they are this year they will be that much better next year. Kyle Wilson and Richie Brockel are the only seniors on that team. Have you ever checked out the SB Nation Broncos blog site, OBNUG.com? If you haven’t stop by for some Bronco news and conversation.

Right on, I have never been to that website, I’ll have to check it out.

I was born in Alaska, but one of my best friends went there and played for the football team so I like them mainly because it is his alma mater, plus that Fiesta Bowl win over Oklahoma the year after my buddy left made me like them even more!

Where are you from in Idaho?

I was born and raised in a small town, Pinehurst, in the Silver Valley area about 30 miles east of Coeur D’ Alene.

Not really into any other sports…for some reason i can’t get into games with clocks.

I am watching a lot of stuff right now, but not sure if i will continue all of them. Will probably stick with Mad Men, Dexter & Fringe. I have a feeling that Flash Forward will disappoint once we get some answers to the big questions. Still too early in the season to tell what anime i will be watching, i will finish up Bakemonogatari and probably continue the Full Metal Alchemist Reboot. Dont get to the movies much since my daughter was born, but am excited to go see some upcoming concerts, notably Little Dragon.

Have switched to audiobooks, just finished Cults, Conspiracies, and Secret Societies and am listening to the new Thomas Pynchon.

The thing i will be spending most of my newfound time doing will be making music. Even though i haven’t been in school for over 10 years, i still seem to stick to that schedule where summertime is spent getting out doing stuff and fall is where i get down to work on whatever creative projects i have going on.

At the moment...

I’m watching the AL Central playoff.(Hey, it’s still baseball.)

Chip Caray is doing the play by play, so if I close my eyes, I can pretend it’s Atlanta and Colorado over the radio…..until Keith Hernandez opens his mouth as the color guy. :P

Oh my god.

I just saw Paranormal Activity and im scared shitless right now. If it’s in a town near you, you have to go see it. Its scarier than the Blair Witch Project by far. Not to mention you’ll be thinking about it from the second you leave the theater.

Ugh…not so sure im gettin any sleep tonight.

There aren’t any woods around my house and I’d have to go 500 miles to find any. PA could happen in anyones house. That’s why I thought it was scary.

Meh…it was way over-hyped for me…I didn’t think BWP was scary at all. Actually, the movies that really scare me are demonic/satanic movies – like Exorcist style…slashers, zombies and ghosts just don’t do it for me.

A Serious Man doesn’t really interest me, actually first Coen flick that doesn’t (disclaimer: it has nothing to do with the Jewish aspect)

i actually haven’t followed the pre-production of this one very much, and the basic plot description isn’t exactly captivating; but for me they struck out with Burn After Reading, so i’m looking for a comeback!

god

BAR looked so good and ended up being so bad…ive seen worse movies in my life, but i dont think ive ever seen a movie be so bad after it looked so freaking good.

The closet scene made that movie worth every minute, IMO…I had to rewind it and watch it like 5 times, just to make sure that really just happened.

Now that Braves baseball is over I have more time for...

Photography, sex, X-Box live, skiing, school work / partying….probably more of the latter. Also opens up a lot more time in the evenings to get back to the gym.

Releases I am looking forward to are COD Modern Warfare 2 on 360 and The Hangover on DVD.

Don’t watch a whole lot of TV shows anymore, but I agree on The Cleveland Show being god-awful. I think I laughed once in the first two episodes combined.

I WILL be watching the new Tarheel basketball season, however. Their freshman class combined with whats left from last year should make for a big, fast, exciting team.

Enjoying NFL games, trying out a whole new batch of recipes I’ve been meaning to cook for the hubby, all the decorating and stuff that comes with the Holidays.

TV in prime time will mostly consist of House, theForgotten, Dirty Jobs and anything on The Food Network.

Not a college sports fan of any type, so counting the days until Spring Training and baseball games once again.

how good is House. I keep hearing that its incredible but it hasn’t drawn me in. good show, but i don’t watch it religiously. is it good enough?

I’m biased, but I think it’s one of those characters with not many redeeming qualities (other than his brilliance) and yet you find yourself rooting for him.

I’d suggest YouTube for some episode snippets and/or the Fox channel might have episodes you can watch online to give you more of an idea if it’s something you would like.
