Where is Ernie Sr.?
The talk of Boog leaving the Braves started me thinking about Pete, Ernie and Skip. I always appreciated Ernie's comments. He could call a spade a spade without being too hard on the Braves, unlike other former players like Tim McCarver. I started listening to Ernie and Milo Hamilton back in the early 70s on the radio. I've never written a fan letter in my life, but I would like to write him to let him know how much I appreciated all those hours of listening to him. Does anyone have any idea about how to contact him?
Thanks!

The front office probably still has his contact information. If you send a letter addressed to him to Turner Field, they’d probably find a way to get it to him.
"My God! Good news fans, the Braves are showing signs of life for the first time in weeks. As a matter of fact, they appear to be beating the crap out of each other."
“call a spade a spade” Ah, nothing like good old fashioned offensive phrases.

How is it offensive? I always thought it was referring to a shovel.

Indeed...
that does seem to be the original usage of the phrase. Many people, however, seem to work very hard to find offense in anything they possibly can.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." A. Bartlett Giamatti
Regardless of its origin, and the innocent intentions of the person using it, the phrase if offensive to a lot of people.

and a lot of people...
seem to go out of their way to be offended these days. (not saying specific to you cb, just in general)
wow
The use of the term “spade” was certainly only used in the context of Ernie stating facts, and was in no way meant to offend anyone. I started to use other terms such as “without dancing around the issue”, or “sugar coating”, but I’m sure that offends someone as well.
In my humble opinion, it’s ridiculous that people are so easily offended.
I’m not fat, I’m big-boned.

Good for you.
Remember when the Panthers had a good offensive line? Yeah, me too.

Contact Information
You might want to use the Ernie Johnson for the Hall of Fame page. It is run by the Johnson family. I’m sure a fan letter would be read by Ernie.
More directly...
This is the guestbook at that site.

May be broken
I sent an email to Christine Johnson, but the email bounced. If it doesn’t go through next time, I’ll use the guestbook.
Thanks
