Off-Season Schedule at Talking Chop
If you thought there was nothing to talk about in the baseball off-season, then this must be your first year hanging out at Talking Chop. The off-season is generally one of the busiest times for baseball blogs, and this baseball blog in particular. We'll cover the hot stove league when it heats up, but before that gets going we will have a thorough review of the 2009 season with an eye towards looking ahead to 2010. The on-going season recap will also be interspersed with lots of prospect talk.
There will be at least one post up on Talking Chop everyday this off-season, so make sure you make this a daily stop this fall and winter.
Here is this week's schedule:
Monday: Season MVP & LVP
Tuesday: Top-5 Off-season Questions
Wednesday: Braves Catcher Brian McCann: 2009 Season in Review
Thursday: Braves Catcher David Ross: 2009 Season in Review
Friday: Top-5 Braves Minor League Catchers
Saturday: Braves First Baseman Adam LaRoche: 2009 Season in Review; LaRoche-Kotchman Trade Review
Sunday: Top-5 Braves Minor League First Basemen
And of course if any other news pops up we'll have that here too.

You are a better man than I. I do not envy you at all!

I am going out on a limb and predicting Greg Norton for LVP.

Q: If on-base pct is so important then why don't they put it on the scoreboard? -Failcoeur
A: Because the Braves don't want to show their fans how bad you suck.

I actually love TC during the offseason
There so much discussion and debate…i actually like it more than during the season..a definite must read.

My favorite part about TC in the offseason is that the knee jerk “FIRE_____! TRADE_______! ________SUCKS” fanposts after a loss are gone until spring.

the knee jerk “SIGN ___________ !!! CUT ___________ !!! __________________ MUST BE TRADED BECAUSE HE SUCKS !!! !” fanposts?
Remember when the Panthers had a good offensive line? Yeah, me too.

I’m going to need it.
I’m a huge basketball fan, but I haven’t found a decent Pacers blog yet. Most have just a handful of people posting and not as good as TC. Maybe I’m just spoiled here.

MVP: Yunel-most consistent postition player all year, offensively and defensivley
LVP: would say Norton but he really didnt have a big enough role…so i’d say either Chip or FUGA…probably FUGA, inconsistent all year and a defensive liability, didnt’ hustle and just looked like he didnt give a shit

I still don’t understand this…Just about every game I watched where FUGA failed, he looked pissed.
Where did this “he doesn’t care” perception come from?

MVP: Yunel, Prado, Jurjiens, or Vazquez
LVP: Chipper, Norton, Franceour, or Lowe
by BravesFanScout on Oct 5, 2009 1:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Chipper had a higher OPS than Escobar. I don’t see how he can even be under consideration for the LEAST valuable player. He wasn’t his usual self, but he there were many players worse (Johnson, Francoeur, Schafer, Anderson, Bennett, Kotchman, Norton, Reyes, Acosta, Gorecki, Lowe).

I was just going to ask if things were going to close up here now that the season’s over (and as far as I’m concerned there’s no baseball until February).
My MVP is Vazquez, who was simply magnificent on the mound this past year. Jair Jurrjens is running a very close second.
LVP…Lowe, who is shaping up to be an expensive disappointment. But there are a few dishonorable mentions: Acosta, Norton, Francoeur, Schafer, etc.

MVP (tie) – Javy/Yunel
LVP – Norton……..he can’t come back next year. just can’t.
