So I haven't been around for a couple of games...

Who’s Sammons?

And where are Heap/Ross?

by SuperNewb on Oct 4, 2009 1:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

They are tired. Clint Sammons has been around a few years, he was in 5 games this year and 23 last year. He’s a very good catcher but he can’t hit.

by Johnny Ringo on Oct 4, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sammons is from Parkview/UGA...

strong defensively, not much stick. Young, very young, and likely a future 2nd C here once Ross’ contract is up.

Nice throw in the towel lineup.

Even if Chipper makes a PH appearance, he can’t hit 2 homers that way.
It’s sad to think that record won’t be made and perhaps could have if he had been just a bit more patient at the plate this past week.

Okay all OT regulars, lets see:

Is this Roachy’s last game with us?
Is this Huddy’s last game with us?

Im gonna say we trade for a 1B and then re-sign Huddy thus trading DLowe, KK or Javy.

by mvhsbball on Oct 4, 2009 1:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the reason i’d see huddy staying is because we could get something in trade for another pitcher where as we’d have to just let huddy walk

the reason i wouldnt see him coming back it because it would be easy to just not pick up the option

by Slee on Oct 4, 2009 1:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Huddy is gonna be relatively cheap

So I’m guessing he comes back… Roachy… who knows, He really came on for us at the right time this year…

It’s too bad Bill Hohn can’t call balls and strikes for this game to close out the season on a fitting note.

I’ve been complaining all year that they don’t hit what they’re pitched. So many other teams will throw the bat at the ball and dink hits over the infield all the time or hit line drives.

It’s rare for us to do that. We see to always be swinging out our shoes and thus get under the ball a lot to pop up and roll over it for weak grounders.

All year long…..:(

THIS is why we need another hitting coach! TP should have addressed this with them early on, and put a STOP to it.

I wonder if, knowing the outcome of the season, the guys in the dugout treat this like the last day of school. It’s a little looser, and little more casual. To wit: Chipper serving as catcher, Joe and Boog giving the camera guys a little grief, etc.
