I wonder if they'll invite Francoeur?
I'm 90% sure I'm going. This will be a nice chance to see our Braves players this off-season in a relaxed and fun environment. I think we should make it a Talking Chop outing.

I guess they lowered the minimum requirements for being a celebrity.

THIS!!!
I think i’m going to make travel efforts for this, even though I never made it to the Ted all season…..
Local fans, this is the type of stuff you NEED to attend. Please make it a TC outing.

LOL Kip Pardue.
He was in the Rules of Attraction, one of my favorite flicks. I’ll likely make it out to this as well.
If this is going to be an “official” TC outing, the goal is more than five people. Come on locals, we’re not all that miserable and intolerable in person.

His European cut scene in Rules of Attraction is one of the better things ever in a movie.

He turned down a very illegal threesome with Evan Rachel Wood and Nikki Reed in Thirteen which is one of the worst things ever in a movie. JKJK

Glad they’re resurrecting this! Went to one years ago and witnessed a Tom & Chris Glavine ‘spat’ first-hand – whoo.
Anyway, I’ll be there, whether as an observer or a volunteer, not sure yet.

I can see it now:
I wonder if they’ll invite Francoeur?
Francoeur will show up, but he’ll actually play, and he’ll be like the tool in your local slow-pitch softball team with a chip on his shoulder, and be overly serious, and crush 480 ft. moonshots, and trotting the bases like Reggie Jackson, while the D-list local celebs all kind of have their fun killed a little bit more with each successive homer, until the fans are all booing. Coach Heap will try to reason with Francoeur, but when he puts his hand on his friend’s shoulders, Frenchy will snap away, and say “Don’t touch me you don’t know how I feel” while the two stare intensely for two minutes. And then the following day, Southside Steve, Lewis, Jeff Dauler, Chris Dimino and Holly Firfer will go on their respective programs and report to the airwaves how big of a jerk Jeff Francoeur is.

I would pay serious money
To see Jeff have to wait on a slow pitched softball. He’ll probably get too anxious and run half way to the mound to swing at it.
Too bad I can’t go.

setting aside a series of unfortunate and ill-considered statements to members of the media, wasn’t Francoeur always widely reputed to be an excellent teammate, a positive influence in the clubhouse and a genuinely good guy?

For the most part
I didn’t think it was good to make statements insinuating young Schafer’s hitting woes in relation to his own ineptitude, nor were his vague remarks towards Jaramillo vs. Pendleton, but he’s always been a positive influence to the communities he contributes to.
I was just going off on a fictitious tangent, based on assumptions from his moments of primadonna-ism, forming an imaginary persona based on the fragile young psyche of the ex-girlfriend “but we’re still friends,” while harboring a ton of resentment, variety.

I understand and enjoy a good fictitious tangent as much as the next guy.
My point though is that the so-called primadonna-ism was/is all just assumptions and perceptions of outsiders looking in, based on isolated, albeit admittedly unfortunate and ill-considered statements, here and there, quoted in newpapers, for example, as opposed to any overt incidents (akin to the routine Milton Bradly escapades) or anything ever put out into the mainstream as fact from teammates or people in the organization who had the opportunity to have actual contact and dealings with him on a day in and out basis … you know, in reality.
Frankly, all the Francoeur bashing – not as a player (although young players not infrequently struggle and fail to make timely adjustments), but as a person – and frank irrational hatemongering at him that we continue to still see around here, just sucks, imo.
Not that I’m casting that at you … just sayin’.

It's all good
I hear what you’re saying. I know it’d be hard for most to believe, since I made and sold like 50 Failcoeur shirts, but I just don’t really care about the guy anymore. It’s kind of an afterthought, the jabs and remarks, which may sure be a little classless, but hey, we’re all sports fans. It’ll never be a day at the horse tracks with trophy wives in bouffant hats and sundresses.
On another subject, are you going to attempt to make this event? I know you’re local – you should swing by.

yeah, maybe. it sounds like it could be fun. it depends, however, on my schedule, impending crises, critical work deadlines, etc.

From the Collective Soul Twitter page, they will apparently not be at the softball game:
Sorry @NoSoBelle on 11/13 we will be in Halifax playing a show, not in Georgia this story http://bit.ly/o0CBn is not accurate
Humm… I got that info directly from the Rally event page.

Quick question to people who've purchased tickets.
Do you just take the confirmation page that you print out with you as your tickets? Just wondering.
