Braves' Brian McCann will undergo second Lasik surgery
From Mark Bowman, here is the scoop on Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann:
Tired of the prescription glasses that he wore this year, Brian McCann has decided to undergo Lasik surgery again.
Dr. Alan Kozarsky was scheduled to perform this surgical procedure at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday in Atlanta. Kozarsky also performed this surgery on McCann after the conclusion of the 2007 season. [...]McCann said that he had been given no reason to be concerned about undergoing this surgery twice in the span of two years. Based on what the Braves have said in the past, the fear would be that his vision could change again.
Everybody keep your collective fingers eyes crossed, we need us a 20-20 vision McCann.

fingers crossed, hail marys, down on knees in fervant prayer, etc.
Here are just a few of the numerous risks, per the U.S. Food and Drug Administration:
Some patients lose vision. Some patients lose lines of vision on the vision chart that cannot be corrected with glasses, contact lenses, or surgery as a result of treatment.
Some patients develop debilitating visual symptoms. Some patients develop glare, halos, and/or double vision that can seriously affect nighttime vision. Even with good vision on the vision chart, some patients do not see as well in situations of low contrast, such as at night or in fog, after treatment as compared to before treatment.
Also:
Long-term data are not available. LASIK is a relatively new technology. The first laser was approved for LASIK eye surgery in 1998. Therefore, the long-term safety and effectiveness of LASIK surgery is not known.
And then there is the fact that the FDA is right now undertaking a study of the percentage of patients who experience serious quality-of-life problems after Lasik eye surgery; and has issued warning letters to 17 Lasik ambulatory surgical centers based on regulatory inspections demonstrating inadequate systems for reporting problems experienced by patients.

Scary
I just hope this one takes, our best hitter again screwing with his eye sight ? I understand that their are some times cases where the surgey just doesn’t work and a second one is needed and in some cases a third or fourth. However I just don’t like the idea of our franchises best player going under the laser “LOL” again. Just makes me very very nervous as it should every other atl braves fans.
Good luck Big Mac we are hoping for the best.

Anybody remember why he can’t just wear contacts? I mean, I’m legally blind without glasses or contacts, but with my lenses in I have 20/15 vision. Come on Heap, get some contacts buddy.
