"I have yet to tap my potential."
Mark Teixeira introduced to New York. Amazingly, the robot appears to have curled his mouth to emulate a slight smile.

Well, that's settled
Personally, I’ve been pretty ambivalent about Teix – but now I don’t really care for the guy.
Kind of like LeBron James, he rocks the Yankees hat in his hometown. And kind of like many athletes, he’s far too easily swayed by his “better” half.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I hope the Yanks...
…can find an IT guy who can program Teixeira to hit in April and May.

I also heard someone refer to Teix as “intelligent” yesterday. To be fair, I think it was Buster Olney, but it was still one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
I don’t think Teixeira is stupid by any means, but I certainly wish he and his wife would stop questioning the intelligence of those who might be listening. Stop trying to change US geography and claim that the Bronx in New York is closer to Annapolis, Maryland, than Baltimore, Maryland or Washington D.C., both of which were also offering highly generous offers. Stop trying to fabricate a childhood fandom of the Yankees when nothing of the sort was ever mentioned until conveniently now, because 1) it sounds phony, and 2) when Teix was a kid, the Yankees were a non-factor; showing up to Baltimore wearing a Jays, Brewers or Tigers hat would’ve garnered more animosity so nobody would’ve “killed him.”
This is like that episode of Seinfeld when the laundromat shrunk the shirt, but made up excuses, and it got to a point where Jerry settled to forgive and forget, ONLY if they just came out and admitted it. Teix could’ve salvaged a whole lot more integrity if he only just came out and said that he did it for the money and supposed best chance to actually win games. Nobody can fault a player for those reasons, but we can, fault him for trying to deceive us.

his potential to bomb
The Yankees are putting an all star team together based on stats, and little on heart. They can read, great, but they don’t know human nature for shit and for that, I say they miss the playoffs again. Tampa Bay got to the World Series because their players have intangibles like LEADERSHIP. They have personality. They didn’t just see the ball hit the ball, but wanted to win more than they wanted to make money. I’d take a soul over a wallet any day.
Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.
I'd take someone who can hit over Pope Benedict and the Dalai Lama
I hear that Desmond Tutu has a wicked splitter, but who am I kidding. He’s definitely gonna sign with the Padres.
They won because they played better when it really counted
I’m not going to argue. I just think it makes a hell of a difference if a player’s first need is to win, and it’s the things you can’t measure that really makes the difference. A scout who understands talent doesn’t just look at stats but also the things you can’t measure. Hal looks in the paper to see which free agent is leading in HRs and takes out his check book.
Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.
I DISAGREE!
lol, how much more money do you think he can make? You were talking about the potential of his wallet, right?

The Yankees need a line-up full of David Ecksteins.

Your words sound like a very similar wavelength to my own. Just keep in mind that the argument of intangibles vs. statistics here will hardly go in your favor. Just keep an open mind, and you might find a lot of debates educational. But I hear you, and feel similarly.

LOL
Ghandi could play left field and Lao Tzu has a 102 fastball.
I know what you’re saying. What I’m saying is that the biggest problem with the type of player the Yanks are signing is that none of them hate losing more than they enjoy cashing their checks.
