What do you think of acquiring Bobby Abreu?

I'm new to the site so I am not sure if you have debated this topic before, but what do you think of getting Bobby Abreu.  Since 03' the guy has put up 100 rbi's and 95+ runs every year.  We need a power hitting outfielder until heyward comes up and granted his HR numbers have been up and down I think he can still get the job done.  He is also a lock for atleast 20 steals.  I like this guy alot because he has experience playing left field (in Houston), right field (Philly & New York), and alittle bit of center in both citys.

No....

Abreu over the past few years has been a product of that short right field porch in Yankee Stadium. His home/road splits are a bit too different for my tastes.

he’s a shit fielder like the rest of them and he’s older than all of them.

also, he has played 16 career games in left, and 21 in center. what was that you were saying about versatility?

Depends on the cost

There’s not really anyone out there at this point who doesn’t either have holes in his game, is too expensive in money or prospects, or is a head case. I’m not going to knock Abreu or the other mediocre outfield prospects too much, it just depends on the cost. However, Abreu seems too gotten pretty out of shape with the Yankees. I hate all things Yankees, so maybe it was just me, but every time I saw him I thought he looked like a lardass.

lardass

hahaha i’m going to start using that.

he did steal 25, 22 bases in 07 and 08 respectively

although he also got caught 19 times.

i know stealing bases isnt the end all be all in terms of being in shape, but i wouldnt call him a lard ass… he isnt as athletic as he was 5 years ago but not many guys in their mid 30s are

I think he meant Jordan Schafer, and dude they are definately not ready. Heyward is 19 years old, you can’t bring up a 19 year old because 90% of the time they are not ready and it just hurts their confidence.

OT: Pujols is better than A-Rod

Check out the stats, it’s not even close.

by Land-Man on Jan 3, 2009 1:21 AM EST reply actions

How is this relevant? You are right though Pujols is alot better then A-Rod.

by Falconzfan284 on Jan 3, 2009 2:35 PM EST up reply actions

Pujols = Chocolate Jesus.
Abreu = Dashboard Jesus.

I like my Jesuses to have moveable (malleable?) legs.
