The Braves have avoided arbitration with Mike Gonzalez on Monday by signing him to a one-year, $3.45 million contract.

Now just Scooter, Krotchman, and FYF are left unsigned and arb-eligible. I wish we had signed Gonz for a few extra years, I already feel panicked about our 2010 bullpen.

Reasonable
That’s not a bad price for him, considering he’s not yet eligible for FA. If he pitches a full year the Braves should get good value out of this contract.
I’m still predicting Soriano replaces him mid-year though. Just my opinion, so don’t shoot me.

Wow
Well everyone has a right to their opinion. I would really like to hear your reasoning though? That’s some pretty elite company considering some of the best includes Joe Nathan, Mariano Rivera, Bill Wagner, Brad Lidge and several more who escape me at this moment. Then again, maybe you were just funning me?

Gotta throw Papelbon and Soria into the mix…
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Soria
Totally forgot about that guy. I was hoping nobody would bring up Paps, that guys is freaking weird man – f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g w-e-i-r-d! But I agree he should be in there too.

Interesting point about our 2010 bullpen. As great as our rotation look…how does our BP line up for next year? Moylan…

I’m hoping some of the kids are ready by then, like Kimbrel, Marek, and Medlen, but I still think we’ll need someone established at the back end. Just as much as there were tons of closers on the market this year, there aren’t that many out there next year. Of course, when have the Braves ever thrown a bunch of money at a closer not named Smoltz. I’m probably panicking way too early. We’ll have two possible closers that we can re-sign next off-season, one in Gonz that really likes Atlanta.
Unlike this offseason, we don’t appear to have much money coming off the books next year. Soriano is the only one i can think of (6 mil) , and i refuse to believe that we won’t re-sign Chipper. Maybe if we non tender someone we might free up enough money to sign Gonzo to a deal. Unless they go up on payroll again, which would be great.
