Mets @ Braves Open Thread: Game 3 - the Last Game at the Ted this Year
New York Mets at Atlanta Braves, Sep 21, 2008 1:35 PM EDT
The Braves will actually finish with a winning record at home this year, currently 42-and-38. If only we had figured out how to win on the road.

We must be..
..running out of pitchers, if we’re throwing Morton out there in relief when the last we heard he was going to be shut down for the near future.
get the tie, my opponent in fantasy today has pelfrey and a win would hurt.
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
I wish I had pictures from AFTER the game to post, but these will do for now...
Last home game and it’s a WIN!!
So what I mean by that is, I didn’t have access to the fancy-dancy digital camera today, so I (hopefully) have this on film…it was Rookie Dress Up Get Away Day. After the game I went behind the Ted to watch the players load up on the bus to go to the airport – thought I’d get some pictures of our guys in suits, you know?! Sure enough, out come the broadcasters, then some pitchers who weren’t in the game…and then a tall, braided blonde in a horned viking war helmet and blue dress – Charlie Morton! Soon after came James Parr, in a lovely strappy simple black dress, but gorgeous white platform boots with glitter heels. Brent Lillibridge made the cutest Goldilocks, complete with dress, wig, and black ray-bans. I still don’t know who was hiding in the curly rainbow wig and some said a Cinderella outfit; I think Brandon Jones was working a Betty Rubble type outfit and he sorta mooned us, and Gregor Blanco looked cute in his page-boy pink-streaked wig and ? dress. I have no idea what getup JoJo had on – it was some sumo wrestler type thing, maybe(?!) there was just too much going on at once! Hopefully BravesLove will get some pics from somebody and post them soon. Otherwise, I’ll have mine up in about a week – if they came out.
It was a good day – I won a BP jersey and was randomly given a Braves visor. I’m going to miss all of the friends I made at the Ted this year…is it April yet?
We went today too....
Didn’t win anything, but it was definitely a great day at the ballyard. Got alot fo compliments on my new Babe Ruth Braves jersey. Stayed for Travis Tritt-he was…ok. Did get to witness some drunken Tritt fans get into with a usher/security personell, and the usher had to be taken away to cool down, and of course the young fellas were escorted out too.
oh yeah!
We were offered free hot dogs by some nice old man right by the concession stand, but we had already eaten. So i guess technically we won something!
Sweet!
Glad you went. I don’t think I passed by you at any point, I definitely would’ve noticed that jersey – just damn, it’s cool! But what a great way/day to close out the home stand for the year, hunh?!
Oooh, I eat all kinds of spicy food, but you’ve got an iron stomach compared to me when it comes to country music – I passed on the concert!
Did you go to the “discount” memorabilia sale in the Hank Aaron room? Two things i loved: A Corky Miller autographed jersey for $150, and that basket of autographed hats that they had no idea who signed them, you just had to look through and see if you recognized anyone, which i didn’t, and i do collect autographs.
Also, the Thank You’s on the Big Screen-Corky Miller: “Thanks for the support, i hope to see ya’ll out here next year.”
Wish i could say the same Corkster, wish i could say the same. Maybe on alumni sundays.
The rainbow wig...
may have been J.J. I was wanting to go to the game and go back and watch the players head for the airport, because I was fairly certain they would be hazing the rookies. It’s traditionally done on the last road trip of the year. I can’t wait to see the pictures!
I love beating the Mets
My best friend is a Mets fan, and watching and listening to him squirm as the Mets continue to choke away their season has been the highlight of my September. Along with hoping our team finishes up strong, I will now be rooting for the Brewers over the last week of 2008.
Here’s to a fine postseason, and a World Series matchup of anything but Cubs/Red Sox.
Well..
…if they keep choking like they did this time last year, they can’t blame Willie Randolph. HAHAHAHA, sometimes it nice to see a bullpen implode for someones elses team.
A guy I work with said essentially the same thing the other day: “I wonder where Willie is right now? I’ll tell ya this much, wherever he is, he’s gotta be smiling.”
Here at Talking Chop, we’re smiling right with you, Willie.
He looked..
…pretty happy last night at Yankee Stadium. He was there in uniform for the festivities.
Ned Yost
I wrote today that Yost should be brought back and groomed as Bobby Cox’s successor.
Wondering if anyone agreed with me
