Braves lean years ahead
The Braves, with a couple of exceptions, have become a team of wannabes and journeymen players. With the new owners unwilling to spend money and the farm system not as strong as in the past, it could be some lean years ahead. this is evident by their media decisions. They have taken a 'America's Baseball Team" and converted them into a local Atlanta team (what in the "Wide world of sports" is a Peachtree TV. I have Dish Network and can't get the games on PTV.

Seems like this kid has been used more than Blaine Boyer this season…

Haha, now that is funny.
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

wow, dude just wow. Every team has journeymen players. Unwilling to spend money? Our payroll THIS year was $90 somethin million. We are like top 10 in payroll in ALL of baseball dude. And we have close to $50 million to spend this offseason. Actually the farm system is REALLY strong. Our outfield is stacked in the minors, good young pitching, not all will be good but maybe some will be. We have prolly top 5 prospects that can match ANY teams top 5 prospects. Heyward, Hanson, Schafer, Gorkys, and Freeman or Flowers whichever one you want to include as 5th best. We dont have the BEST farm system but it is very good though from 1-10. I just dont get where all the complainin is comin from about the FUTURE of this team, its got a chance at a very good future.

Good Lord. So what, we don’t win the division for 2-3 years and we are done for a decade? The farm team isn’t as strong as in the past? We are probably one of the top 5 systems in all of baseball. The payroll is at its highest in 5 years. Your entire statement is false and presumptive.

I wouldn't say lean...
but, yes, on paper we don’t have the talent or money the Mets and Phillies do. My thought is that if we’re going into a true rebuilding mode, then we should do it at every level up to and including Manager and possibly GM. But, if we could have stayed healthy this year, who knows? Regardless of how we go, I don’t see this team being competitive for 2 to 3 more years, but when the stars align as they have with the young Marlins team, you just never know — young talent is so unpredictable, but you have to give them a chance and that can cost you for a couple of years.

Did You
Just mention GM and the word rebuild. I don’t know if Frank is gonna be that good but c’mon how many guys are gonna be up to filling JS’s shoes? It ain’t many and we can at least wait a year or two before the calls for replacement come for Frank and I just don’t get the people who want BC gone sure he ain’t what he used to be but without him we would never have won for from 91 to 05. He can leave when he is ready.

Sorry to be such a "what have you done for me lately" guy...
but…
winning a World Series 13 YEARS AGO does not qualify you to be manager now. Sorry, you hire and fire people on their merits. This year and the past couple, Bobby has continually abused the bullpen (Boyer, Bennett, et al), made questionable moves in the lineup, i.e. sticking with Frenchy in the 6 hole for so long when it was painfully apparent he didn’t deserve to be there. He needlessly platoons players and discredits guys for no apparent reason other than his own personally preferences (See: Johnson, Kelly).
Granted, he wasn’t given a ton to work with this year with injuries and lack-luster seasons, but don’t tell me that just because he is an institution in the home dugout that he gets to waltz to retirement while simultaneously running the bullpen to the ground and stunting the development of other players. All while the Braves suffer as a team a couple years, or a minor miracle, away from consistently competing. This team isn’t in full-on firesale mode now, but they are definitely retooling for the future, and I think it is time that the team move on with a fresh face.
Apologies for length.

Yes, that's what I mentioned...
JS picked his time to leave and if you check his record, he has been good at that! Frank may not be a failure so quickly as a GM, but then he might not get the chance. I would like to see him have an opportunity to build his own team, but I think that includes choosing your own manager and I don’t think he will have that opportunity. If BC wants to stay, then he stays — unless the organization finds a place to store him.

He made the team what it is. It would be like Paterno or Bowden being fired at PSU and FSU. They made the instutitutions what they are and they have earned the right to walk away when they so choose. He is only gonna be here for another year anyway. And its not like we would be a 500 team if we had Joe Torre (you substitute a great manager) as the manager. We are 20 games under 500 because we lost 80% of the ROTATION, most of the bullpen to go along with that and we have massively underacheived with the lumber (see KJ, FYF).

paterno is a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad example to use, since most PSU fans want him to just fucking retire already.

And Bowden
just seems confused these days.

yeah but Bowden made FSU football without him they sure wouldn’t have won 600 games in that span much less 800

well
we shouldn’t fire Bobby because he did alot for us when he was the GM by building up the farm system and then he did great for us as the manager and we won 14 straight division titles, but i hope he walks away at the end of this season and if not i HOPE he walks away at the end of next season or at least gets nugged a little bit so that he knows that its time to go. He is NOT the sole reason why we are so awful but he has done enough the past few years to merit all the criticism that he gets. He is a Brave now and he will always be a Brave.

I will admit that advocating firing Bobby is a bridge too far, but at the same time a healthy nudge and a consulting gig in the FO if he wants it is not out of the question.
He has earned the right to retire a Brave, but I don’t think manager is his strongest position anymore.

How much did the Braves...
…have to do with the TBS decision to broadcast playoff and Sunday games (and no long Braves games)? I was under the impression it was not up to the team, but up to the station as to what is broadcast.
