Braves @ Giants Open Thread: Game 2
Atlanta Braves at San Francisco Giants, Aug 5, 2008 10:15 PM EDT
Mike Hampton on the mound... should be fun. If you stay up for this one, then you have my respect and my pity.

On May 21, 2008, Justin Hayes, a resident of Cumming, Georgia, died when he fell an estimated 150 feet from the upper deck concourse to field level and sustained serious head injuries

i just realized something. it must have POURED all over the postgame concert on saturday

Who knows...
it can be pouring in one part of Atlanta, and sunshine in another. But it looked NASTY over to my left in Buckhead as I was going up I-85 after the game. I caught the edge of it for a few miles, with the lightning all around, big wind, and the sideways rain and hail. But once i got to I-285, it was clear. Go figure!
tex coulda done that. and have reached base tonight, too

Yeah
And with the huge sample size of what? 3.1 innings.
He blows, maybe we should call the Angels and ask for a mulligan.
the 1:3 K:BB is kinda frightening. isn’t he supposed to be a strikeout pitcher?
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Again
Sample size. Can we at least give him a couple weeks?
Your Debbie Downer-ing is neither prudent nor constructive.
its the fucking giants, we shouldn’t be taking this as gospel or anything…but this is VINTAGE mike hampton

Fun Fact
The Giants have 5 pitchers with numbers in the 50s.
Hinshaw #52
Sanchez #53
Romo #54
Lincecum #55
Matos #56
Weird.
+1
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

anyone else freaked out by dinosaurs? i mean…really? they scare the shit outta me
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Plastic dinosaurs?
What about cartoon dinosaurs? Or stop motion dinosaurs like in a classic episode of “Land of the Lost?”
Or is it just the idea of dinosaurs coming alive and running amok in downtown a la Jurassic Park 2?
i can't watch that movie anymore.
It is a guarantee that if i watch even a little of it, that night i will have nightmares about velociraptors and T-Rex chasing me.
i heard it briefly, but didn’t pay much attention. seems to be gone now

damnit
I picked up Fred Lewis on my fantasy team last week, but had him on the bench tonight because of his bun-youn. And WTF, he homers.
Oh wait, I’m not really surprised..
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
ooh the side-by-side
I like, but I would have gone with this one…
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
I couldn’t sleep last night, so I checked in on the end of the game. Nice to see Ohman and Boyer get the job done when it counted, the the lineup put it away in the top of the ninth.
Good game all around, but the game ball goes to Hampton. Sweet redemption for him, and proof that hard work pays off. It had to feel exceptionally good for him to look at the box score and see that W next to his name.
Indeed, great start by Hampton…urge to kill, fading...
