Yunel talking to Hanley

Yunel probably asking how to rake and Hanley asking how to field.

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 7:13 PM EDT reply actions

Kotsay taken out of the lineup.

It really is a 50/50 on whether he’s injured or traded.

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 7:13 PM EDT reply actions

I’d say there’s a much better chance he’s been moved.

by Rhyno18 on Aug 26, 2008 7:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Wait, something's wrong

Doesn’t the opponent automatically get some runs in the first inning?

by 10-4 on Aug 26, 2008 7:29 PM EDT reply actions

And also of note: Blanco got out on the first pitch, and Yunel got a 4 pitch walk. This reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where George decides to do the opposite of his instincts and everythign starts going great.

Feeling a little more at home/less afraid?
Sigh.

by Lizziebeth on Aug 26, 2008 7:53 PM EDT reply actions

I take it

We lost that lead already or something.

(just got home, listened to radio 3-0, saw 3-2)

Kots is sorry for taking Jamie away from you guys, even getting a little misty eyed…

Ah, ok

I’m listening to radio.
I was considering going tomorrow night to get that one, just couldn’t tell from the photo (on the official website) if it had the tats. Don’t want it without the tats.

that would fit in great with my current ebay bids of mariner moose, youppi, and yet another chipper

Not only is he predictably in the minors...

He’s trying out a different position…

Brilliant

Move Andruw to 1st and trade Loney.

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 8:05 PM EDT up reply actions

This

Will be another blow to Andruw yet again, when someone else is yet better at the position he thinks he’ll get.

I think when September callups begin, we call up five starting pitchers, so we can have a second starter for each game.

by 10-4 on Aug 26, 2008 8:12 PM EDT reply actions

Well, i guess Buddy could be one, so we only need 4 more starters

by 10-4 on Aug 26, 2008 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Why wait until then?

Am I the only one who thinks Jurrjens should be deactivated like a two weeks ago?

by royhobbs on Aug 26, 2008 8:14 PM EDT up reply actions

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Besides, i think he still has fewer innings than Boyer, who went over 200 last week.

by 10-4 on Aug 26, 2008 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

I guess

I’m under the John Donovan belief that innings should be increased 30-40 a year, and regardless of where he stands now ………………. 156-159, stop him now, and let him strive for his progressive 30 next season, and strive for 180-190. If we’re not supposed to be seriously competitive, then there’s no real harm in doing such actions, and if we’re to bounce back in 2010, then at least we’ll have Jair striving for 215 innings, health and success barring.

Caught it on my way home – the first time I was back outside since 8:30 this morning when the monsoon blew me up the hill to my office from the parking lot. I stopped off at the parking deck at Lenox to take this with my phone.

Park for free, buy a $3 ticket from scalper, sit in my usual section because I’m tight with the usher, and drop a fiver on some hot dogs. No need to spend $30 for a bunch of crap I don’t really care for.

by Lizziebeth on Aug 26, 2008 8:49 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe it's . . .

Batter, as in cookie/cake/delicacy batter, as in eating, of the week. A stretch, but more believable than hitting ball with stick “batter.”

Is it just me or does he look older than 35? Or is that 35 in Dominican years?

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 9:44 PM EDT reply actions

The thing is

He is such a negligible player, nobody cares to check his documentation. His bio probably says he’s 28.

2 on, no out

Vidro. Strikeout. Yep, sounds about right.

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 9:54 PM EDT reply actions

It almost sounds pathetic

The futile cheers from the few fans in attendance. Speaking of which, I’ll be sure to be as loud as possible cheering for the Braves in DC this weekend.

by royhobbs on Aug 26, 2008 10:05 PM EDT reply actions

The Nationals

Now there’s a team we can beat. Well, at least I thought we could. Turns out the Braves are 4-7 against them

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you kidding?

Willie HGHarris will destroy us again, and we’ll lose two out of three.

Seriously though

Willie’s gotta be juicing. He’s hitting homers and showing power, and even Nationals fans are confused.

by royhobbs on Aug 26, 2008 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh wow

7 career homers before this year. 12 in 2008. Who does he think he is? Brady Anderson?

by VictorW on Aug 26, 2008 10:22 PM EDT up reply actions

See?

Last year, he lost his job because all the power he thought he had was all warning-track, instead of using his superior foot speed and putting the balls into play. But now he’s like that guy from Major League 2 who was bragging about being a slugger now.

6.31 team ERA after the All Star break. They started tracking this in 1961 and that’s the worst ever. If we can keep that up, we’ll have two records for the year.
