Ring DFA'ed; Nunez Recalled

Left-handed relief pitcher Royce Ring has been designated for assignment, and right-hander Vladimir Nunez has been recalled from triple-A Richmond. Ring had been rather combustible this year putting up an 8.46 ERA in 42 appearances. His work lately has been especially poor, posting a 31.50 ERA since the All-Star break (14 ER in 4 IP covering 8 games).

Nunez was up briefly earlier in the season for Atlanta and pitched well with a 3.86 ERA.

I'm at the game today in the clubhouse and in the press box, so I'll have more later on including some updates on some of the injured Braves.

Chipper...

If you can update us on any status of Chipper’s injury that would be much appreciated. I’d hate for him to miss too much time and not have the AB’s necessary to qualify for the batting title.

Making Some Moves

Braves are making moves to bring up some AAA players. Hopefully the Braves will bring up Brandon Jones, Josh Anderson, Barbaro Carnizares or Brent Lillbridge. Do not bring up Thorman.

Obviously not all of them, but I’d like to see Brandon Jones some more. I liked what I saw of him earlier this year.

Isn’t Thorman going to be playing for the Canadien Olympic team?

Huh...

...too bad for Ring. Earlier in the year I broke down his appearances, and he did not give up a single hit when Bobby brought him in to face a lone lefty. Zero hits. However, whenever Bobby brought him in for an entire inning he was terrible. Looks like lately he’s just been terrible all the time. Above average facial hair.

Pretty sure we traded Will Startup (among other people?) for him. The Padres have been using him out of the bullpen this season and he’s been pretty damn average: 19.1 IP, 13 H, 10 ER, 2 HR, 11 BB, 16 K, 4.66 ERA, 1.24 WHIP.

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.
