Braves @ Snakes: Game 4
Atlanta Braves at Arizona Diamondbacks, Aug 10, 2008 4:10 PM EDT
So, a, hows about a sweep today? I think it was Joe Simpson who said it last night, but the team we've seen in this series is the team we were supposed to have this year -- good solid starting pitching, timely hitting which can score runs throughout the lineup, and a solid bullpen that doesn't blow many leads. It's a whole lot more fun to watch this team than the one we've been watching for the past few weeks.
By the way, Jeff Francoeur is making himself irrelavant to the Braves success (if not a hinderance to the Braves success). He needs to figure it out or risk playing himself off the team.

their lineup looks weak tonight, but kelly on the bench AGAIN pisses me off. why not bench francoeur again, its not like he’s gonna have a game worth a shit today

Totally agree
Kelly deserves to be out there, but his power has been very limited lately.
But Frency shouldn’t be playing.
More Kelly
I expect to see plenty more of this from Jeffy tonight. Why, yes, those are fastballs a foot above the strike zone he’s swinging at.
Love those commercials
Have yet to try Dos Equis, but I’ve been wanting too.
Not much of a beer drinker though.
btw, livan hernandez allowed 9 runs in 2.2 in his rockies debut today.
good thing we didn’t sign him

Teheran
At the Danville Braves game today, Julio Teheran has been pulled after 2 1/3 innings, 3 runs, 5 hits, 2 strikeouts, and a hit batsman. The hit batter was #1 draft pick Tim Beckham haha.
apparently school starts in arizona tomorrow…thats CRAZY

Not crying...
...just saying, Francoeur with bases loaded:
.130/.130/.174 in 23 PAs
Not including today’s GDP, which will give him 5 on the year. Keep in mind he only has 3 hits…
I’m getting tired of hoping he’ll come around. I like him as a guy and he has the tools to be a great player, but this season he’s abysmal. No reason he should have played today. Bobby needs to put the best 8 position players he has every day, and Jeff isn’t one of them right now. Don’t get me wrong, Francoeur isn’t the reason we lost today, I’m not blaming him. I just am sick of seeing him killing rallies before they get started.
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
According to OPS and among OF that have the PAs to qualify…there are only two OF in the entire league that are worse than him.
Wily Taveras
Michael Bourn
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

arizona acquires ADAM DUNN for “prospect” dallas buck and 2 PTBNL.
they’d better not resign him. also, great job at passing him up on waivers frank wren.

Eh, we didn’t need him this year, so Wren’s passing on him doesn’t bother me. Next year, though, is a different story.
Yeah, why would we give up prospects for him this year?
Isn’t he a FA next season?

to give us a leg up on signing him to a deal, and to avoid giving up draft picks by re-signing him? i’d rather give up 2 or 3 fringe prospects as opposed to a 2nd round draft pick.

I see. He’s probably NY Met next year anyway.
