Good!

Sammons back behind the dish. I want to see the young guys from here on out. To that end I wouldn’t mind seeing Prado at third instead of the Game Genie, but one of two isn’t bad.

by VegasAces on Jul 31, 2008 6:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree, but game genie has been on fire lately...

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"

ON FIRE

Yeah, I said it.

AHHHHH

CHIP CARAY!

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:12 PM EDT reply actions

And he’s defending Mr. Glass against us evil bloggers again. What else is new?

by Rhyno18 on Jul 31, 2008 7:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I think Chip is actually an android

He only can say a few phrases, and just keeps repeating them every game.

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:15 PM EDT up reply actions

Chip Caray has a new nickname

Data. Like from Star Trek, but of course, it also has other meanings around here:)

And Mike Hampton

Appears hittable again today…

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

Hmmm

He’ll go 2 innings maybe, then its Carlyle time

Yep

He did.

Question:

Anybody surprised Manny went to L.A.?

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:23 PM EDT reply actions

Since I might be the only one here, I will answer that question.

I was pretty surprised.

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:23 PM EDT up reply actions

I was surprised

Boston might have “sold low” a bit, but they didn’t have much choice really

by Rhyno18 on Jul 31, 2008 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

Jason Bay is having a nice year and he's a good player

They obviously had enough of Manny being a Manny-asshole up there.

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:28 PM EDT up reply actions

I would have really liked to have had Bay. He’s a solid OF

by Rhyno18 on Jul 31, 2008 7:30 PM EDT up reply actions

what surprised me...

is the Dodgers already have 40 OFs, what are they going to do with him? They must have the highest paid OF in the MLB…think so?

Dodgers

Manny $ 18,929,923
Andruw $ 14,726,910
Pierre $ 8,000,000
Ethier and Kemp make the min…

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:33 PM EDT up reply actions

They have 5. Manny playing everryday means Kemp, Eithier, Andruw Jones and Pierre have to share 2 spots. I bet Andruw gets DL’ed soon leaving Pierre as the 4th OF

by Rhyno18 on Jul 31, 2008 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions

I think they hate youngsters

Or they feel like they have to play their overpriced players. Which is why LaRoche rarely got at-bats while Nomar stunk up the place

by VictorW on Jul 31, 2008 7:35 PM EDT up reply actions

I wouldn't mind having Kemp...

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:36 PM EDT up reply actions

That is...

If he could learn how not to strike out…111 in 386 ABs…But his OPS is still 110…

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

by jug on Jul 31, 2008 7:38 PM EDT up reply actions

This is ugly already.

Kotchman has yet to impress me. Best I’ve seen so far was an almost-to-the-warning-track shot he hit last night. If that’s all he’s got, I hope we trade him some bats and some bubblegum in the off-season. But its early. He might still show me something as this miserable excuse for a season goes on.

by Rhyno18 on Jul 31, 2008 7:37 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah we have to give him time to settle in...

I think we have to hope he will develop and improve over the next several months…

its amazing what you can do if you try.

by 10-4 on Jul 31, 2008 8:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I may watch some Pirates game the rest of the season, just to watch the Laroche brothers play together some.

Tex’s comments about “wanting to remain a Brave” after he was traded really pissed me off.

That makes two of us (on the second point)

by VegasAces on Jul 31, 2008 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions

I can’t say I’m that excited to watch the Laroche’s to suffer through a Pirates game…

Makes me angry too, consider he had that chance. Don’t get me wrong, Tex is pretty smart about his image, what he says, and waiting to get a big contract. He’s going to get that huge contract this off-season. I will bet he goes to New York.

Best part about yesterday's game

Looking down the lineup, and seeing NO .300+ hitters
By nights end, Infante (.306), Sammons (.500), and even Hampton saw some .300 time. Sure, none of them are full-time every-day players, but it goes to show that those 15 hits certainly did some good afterall.

And yes, I’d have Infante’s bushy-eyebrow’d man babies, to go on play dates with McCann’s man-bearded babies in a heart beat.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Here’s the link.

it was ONE SECTION OVER from us. infante’s was about 3 in the other direction. we were at the very last row of seats by the walkway, at the end of the aisle. we were all noticing how while kotsay & francoeur actually seem to be paying attention to the batter, gregor is doing stupid shit like stretching his quads and looking around like a lost dog. maybe thats why he gets such shitty jumps

CHUCK AND SUCK! CHUCK AND SUCK!

I guess I should be one to talk.

Thanks for posting the link, though

What a surreal game to be at…many thanks to royhobbs for the tickets, and a hearty “clap-clap” to bigjoe for scoring the most tomahawks I’ve ever seen one person possess.

Y’all, bigjoe had so many tomahawks, he could have made them into a shirt, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes and a hat and still have one for each hand left over. :D

Here are my pics from the game last night—good to see you again, royhobbs and Lizziebeth, and it was nice to meet bigjoe too!

I’m sorry to say I left right before the Sammons home run. I’ve been sick all week and the rain started coming down again, so I opted to run home during what ended up being the worst of the evening shower. I should have stayed until the end of the half-inning!

Quote from Mr. Glass:

from the AJC 8/1/08:

“I got a wrap on my hamstring, I’ve got a wrap on my groin, I got a wrap on my ankle and calf and on my knee,” Hampton said. “I’m just super-glued together. I’m just hoping something don’t fly off coming around second base. You just tape it up and go.”

Priceless…

I bet

You’re going to buy that shot. In one of the commemorative frames, no less. And then put it next to the Braves Statue of Liberty you’re going to find and buy later on this weekend. lol at me ducking out of the picture in my Glavine shirt.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

i’m not paying EIGHTEEN DOLLARS for an 8×10. maybe if i’m drunk i will…but that would require me to go to the 20-some odd galleries until i find it again.

If there’s anyone still paying attention to this thread after 6:30 p.m. today, start leaving encouraging comments to why bigjoe should buy this picture in a commemorative frame, so that when he drunkenly stumbles back to his hotel room later tonight, and crashes into his laptop and eventually rechecks the thread because he’s looking for the “1 new”, he’ll eventually see why he does indeed need to pay EIGHTEEN DOLLARS for this 8×10.

Haha, that’s classic. Certainly worth the $18 bucks if you ask me.

My pictures from the fan photogs always come out HORRIBLE. I mean really, really, really bad. You should definitely buy this—it may be the only good picture in the history of the Braves Fan Pics world.

You kind of look like

Lance Berkman. You should totally get a Berkman jersey, call yourself the Puma, and go hunting for cougars. And when I say “Berkman jersey,” i’m really saying that you need to drop $18 and get this awesome picture.

Buy it, buy it, buy it

Just kidding, it is too freakin’ much to pay for a pic that you’ve successfully copied! It IS a good picture, though. More tomahawks than I’ve ever seen one person possess…
I’m still laughing at RH ducking, too.
