Javy Lopez
God i'm so tired of the Corkster!!! I mean...holy shit. I know the season's lost but...damn!!! so why not sell more tickets by bringing Javy back for the year? I mean ANYTHING is better than Corky!!! Maybe we can buy Adam Dunn in the offseason with ticket revenues from the Javy Reunion Tour. What do y'all think?

I know...
...but he calls a helluva game.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing some more Sammons, but I doubt any Javy…
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
ohhh hell yes that would sell a lot of tickets. he is one of my favorite Braves ever…i bet he’s pissed seeing Corkster play in his spot

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

corky
They drop Bryan Pena and J.lopez for what? To keep Dorky Miller? Mr. .094 BA. That seems really worth it. Bobby’s bench this year is not very good is it? How many days until 2009?
oh and the brayan pena dumping still bugs the living hell out of me

I went to the game last night, and was so angry when i saw the lineups. Do they actually expect fans to pay money to see a lineup with Greg Norton batting cleanup and Corky Miller playing? I can’t even make a statement by not buying tickets b/c i paid for these tickets back in February when i bought my 9 game flex plan! I’m not an expert on rebuilding, but i believe it has something to do with giving your prospects more playing time, to see what they can do. So shouldn’t Josh Anderson, Brandon Jones, and Clint Sammons be getting some AB’s? I seriously doubt that Corky and Norton are part of Wren’s future vision for this team.
Signs you shouldn't be in the major leagues:
1. You bunt so the pitcher can hit
2. You’re pinch hit for by Ruben Gotay
3. You’re batting .093
Very true…but I still don’t get the venom for Gotay so many people have on here. He’s got a .346 OBP as a PH for us.
I guess I should be one to talk.

It's because
He was a Met, and he went a grand total of 3/12 against us. I don’t know why, I think he’s one of the more reliable bats off the bench, and he switch hits. It’s like Wilson Betemit’s talents from a guy who is shaped more like Brayan Peña.
In response to the Corky issue, sitting at yesterday’s game, the Braves going with a pitcher-hits-eighth line up would’ve made sense, with Corky in the lineup. There were so many pissed off fans near me, saying anything from “bring in Eddie Perez,” “Have Gotay catch (because he’s pretty much “the” guy who always catches ceremonial first pitch), and of course “We turned away Javy and Peña for this turd?“
I can’t really disagree. When a guy starts at .096, and ends the night at .093, you have to start bringing people up.

If I'm not mistaken
...which I am often, Johnny Estrada is unemployed. Couldn’t be worse than the Pork
Unless something happened in the last week
He was catching against us on the Nationals. But yeah, even he’d be a better catcher than Cjörk.
Didn’t Peña get cut by KC after they picked him up? Can’t we just get him back?
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I think that is correct.
What is wrong with Sammons?
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
you are mistaken
He plays for the Nationals. He caught 2 of the 3 games when the Nats were in town, a week and a half ago.
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"

He was DFA'd
..When Lastings Milledge was brought off the disabled list. Last I heard he was headed home to heal (he’s still injured) and is contemplating not playing again this season.
Heres...
...what I wrote over at Baseball Digest Daily about it.
…To make room on their roster for a returning Lastings Milledge, the Washington Nationals have designated catcher Johnny Estrada for assignment. Estrada has already said he wont go to the minors, and will head home to Atlanta. "Mentally, I’m ready to go home. It has been a grind for me all year. I’ve been hurt. This is the first time, I’ve been hurt," Estrada said. It’s always interesting to see career arcs like this, from the top catcher in Atlanta to a Washington Nationals cast off in a matter of a couple years.
Nice stuff.

Joe Hamrahi who runs the site had a ad looking for more writers and I applied. For some of you who’ve been around TC for a while, know Joe – he was the guy writing for TC before handing the reigns over to Gondee.
I love writing Rain Delay, but I was looking for an outlet to write about more general baseball stuff and BDD fit the bill.
Cool man, guess I missed that ad. I remember ole’ jhamrahi quite well. Give him my regards.
BTW…it’s wierd to think of this site before it was taken over by a drunken lout.

well damn
considering the OPS is the combination of two stats, i’d say that’s pretty effing embarrassing.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I think that might be..
...OPS+ , we have pitchers with better OPS+ than Corky. Like I’ve said before, at this point I’d take Todd Pratt back in a heart beat over Corky. But I think they really need to let Clint play, because more than likely he’s going to be Heaps caddy next year.
Often
I forget that B-R goes the OPS+ route.
At least Pratt kept everyone on their toes. Whether it was crushing a homer five times a season, or launching a bat into the stands at least once a week, he was far a better backup than the Cjörk is proving to be.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Pratt's line
62 games, 135 ABs, 28 hits, 6 2B, 4 HR, 19 RBI. 1 SB. 12 BB, 43 K. .207/.272/.341 – .613 OPS.
To think we all wanted him gone in 2006, now a lot of us would do anything to get that kind of production out of Cjörk.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
OPS+, rather…I’m sorry. He sports a terrific .317 OPS.
His WARP is also 0.0 so when you hear someone talking about a “replacement player” they’re basically talking about a guy like Corky Miller. McCann’s WARP is 5.9 in case you were wondering.

I think
I’m more fascinated in the fact that someone has sponsored Cjörk’s B-R page, and it has absolutely no clear reasoning why, since it’s almost all Minnesota Twins related stuff.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Haha...
...I was looking for some sort of verbal jab like that, but couldn’t find it. Thanks for picking up my fumble and taking it to the endzone.
And just to pile on him even more, I remember watching a game on like April 4th where Corky had an RBI single and I was like “hey, alright this guy isn’t horrible!” Little did I know he would only have 4 more RBI up until this point. And how in fuck did his only HR come as a PH?!

after the emergence of CLINT SAMMONS tonight, i think this is corky’s last weekend in atlanta
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
So...
Miller: 54 ABs, 5 H, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Sammons: 8 ABs, 4 H, 1 HR, 3 RBI
See ya Porky!
