What we gave up and what we got for Tex

Rangers got Salty, Andrus, Harrison, Jones, and Feliz

Braves got Tex and Mahay, now there gone, now we have Kotchman, Duvall(from the Mahay pick), and Marek

Angels got Tex

Good deal at the time cause we got Tex and Mahay. It didn't work out but not a awful deal.

Ok first off we have no need for Salty at Catcher. And Kotchman I would MUCH rather have at First base. I dont think Salty will be able to hit enough to put up with his below average defense at First. Jones and Marek I would say is a wash. I have never been a big fan of Harrison. I like Jurrjens, Reyes, Morton and Hanson way more than Harrison. And I actually like Duvall more than Harrison also. Andrus was blocked, I like KJ and Escobar more and plus we still have Lillibridge, it was easy to give Andrus up. I still like Andrus upside though. Feliz will probably be the ONLY guy that we regret trading in this deal. But getting ONE full year from Tex makes it worth it especially when we tried to win the World Series. So I guess you can look at it as we gave up Andrus and Feliz for Tex. So it actually looks like we gave up 2 guys for Tex.

I think if you look at it this way you are happy with what we got. And also thinking that it was not NEARLY as bad of a trade as alot of people think. I heard Buster Olney talk bad about the 2007 trade earlier today or last night but he is a moron anyway at least thats what I think. At least now Smoltz, Chipper and Bobby knows that we tried to win it all last year and this year so they can at least respect the front office for tryin one last time at the Series while they are still playing. Not saying that we wont win the World Series while there still here but it will be difficult.

Haven't you heard?

Optimism isn’t allowed!

Good insight however.

I share your sentiments on Salty and Jones. Harrison may turn out decent but not stellar. Andrus is a coin flip. Feliz we could use.

I read a scouting report on Marek earlier today that did not sound too bad. He could potentially develop into a starter.

I actually agree with you. We took a shot with the trade last year trying to get to the WS. I’ll take that aggressive approach every time. Also agree that the only guy I regret in the trade is Feliz.

You've been using that line a lot

I take it you watched 21 recently?

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Nope…my favorite morning radio show uses it as one of their soundclips. But I’ve been warming up to the idea of watching 21…wasn’t all that interested at first. I take it you’ve seen it and enjoyed it?

Eh, it’s alright. I’ve read the book, and seen the movie, and they’re both radically different, aside from the point that they count cards. Good flick to watch if you’re a gambler like me though. I’ll take no responsibility if it makes you feel like dropping what you’re doing and jet off to AC for a spell, however.

I saw the movie, have yet to read the book. I also watched th History Channel special like I’m sure most people have. The movie was decent, but I didn’t think it was fantastic. Had a couple of good moments though, but you can say that about most flicks.

About the only thing it accomplished, as royhobbs alluded to, was make me want to go directly from the theater to the airport and hop the next flight to McCarran.

I'll never call

Morpheus anything but “Morpheus” for the rest of his career or life.

FYI, the Chinese guy who was a random dealer at the Planet Hollywood scenes was the real guy the entire story was based off of.

Good bit of trivia there, I did not know that.

I would put it this way

Rangers got Salty, Andrus, Harrison, Jones, and Feliz

Braves got 1 year of Tex and 2 months of Mahay, plus Kotchman, Duvall(from the Mahay pick), and Marek

Angels got 2-3 months of Tex

Angels

Angels will also get 2 compensation picks. Or put another way, the Braves lost out on two compensation picks as part of their opportunity cost for trading Tex.

yes

but I was talkin mainly that the trade was not as bad as many thought. Im fine with losing the 2 draft picks with the package we got. And plus this draft is the Weakest in a long time. With our record thats probably gonna be top 10 we should get a good pick there and maybe even top 15 but after that the draft drops CONSIDERABLY.

WOW

he reached base and stole a base also. He is Babe Ruth now. Tex is better no doubt but give Kotchman some time. No doubt Tex is better but did you actually think we would get a player better than Tex in a trade? I mean come on dude. Be realistic.

I know it's "only spring training," but is it time to be concerned about McLouth?
