Teixeira should've learned the A-Rod lesson

I was struck by Tex's quote on the braves.com site.

"It's very bittersweet," Teixeira said. "I loved it here, I really did. I wanted to stay here the rest of my career, but business is business, and sometimes you have to move on, and I'm looking forward to moving on to L.A."

Ever since he got to Atlanta, he's played his cards very close to vest. He didn't want to give anyone an idea of where he wanted to go or what he wanted to do once he hit free agency. I would have to assume that this was based on his agent's advice. So, instead of being open with the Braves in the off season and getting down to business with an extension, he decided to play coy and wait.

Now he's lost his chance to stay in Atlanta for the rest of his career. He can call it bittersweet, but he brought it on himself.

That’s pure PR bullshit. Tex is going for the biggest paycheck, he doesn’t care what team or town it comes from

Both true.

I don’t blame him…as an athlete you only have so much time to make as much money as you can because you never know if you’ll get injured or be finished. At the same time, I think guys like Boras are bad for the game because they drive up the market and then teams have to pay more money in order to get guys like Teixeira.

So, any chance we go after him as a free agent…ahahaahahahhahahahahaahahahaha, sorry, couldn’t keep a straight face while typing that.

"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

Be happy for Teixeira Atlanta

Hes moved on to a better team who has a very good chance to win the world series. I hope he lives up to the hype and helps my Angels. However I am bumed to see Casey Kotchman leave, he is an outstanding baseball player who grew up around pro baseball as a kid, and I believe he will be better than Teixeira in a few years. Kotchman has been a big part of our club lately and I wish him the best of luck. So I think Atlanta is getting the better of this deal (in the long run).

I think...

after we get over our despondency about the way this year has turned out, most people here will be able to see that what you are saying is mostly true. I hate to see Tex leave, but hopefully in the long run, it’s for the best.

Good luck to him and the Angels the rest of the year!

I disagree on the Kotchman being better than Tex in a few years, but any year the Yankees or the Red Sox don’t make it to the World Series makes me happy.

I am happy for Teix

The guy’s never been so close to a legit chance to taste a ring, and now he’s getting one. He wouldn’t have had as good of a chance with Arizona, New York, Tampa Bay, LA Dodgers, or even Boston to some extent, but with Anaheim, he’s getting his chance. Besides, the Angels are my favorite AL squad, so I hope they fulfill my pre-season pick and at least go to the ALCS, if not further.

Love it or hate it, the trade’s done and done, and I’m not going to hate on Kotchman the least bit. He’s one of us now, and the least anyone can do is at least give him a chance, but I think he’ll be alright once he settles in.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Casey will love Bobby Cox

And Atlanta will love Casey. The first time you see him turn a double into an out on a superb dive, you’ll appreciate why Angel fans are still very much attached to him. You’ll enjoy his lean after he hits one over the fence almost as much as you’ll enjoy the way he throws the bat at the ground when he pops up. And he’ll rarely walk back to the dugout without having put the ball in play.

He is the slowest player you’ll see, though. Call him “Wheels.”

Good luck, guys. You’re my new favorite NL team.

Enjoy the AL pennant.

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Thanks.

Sincerely, thanks for the good wishes. I went to the Big A once, it was a good time and the fans i sat near were into the game.
