Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
the chance to boo casey kotchman mercilessly, and possibly run into frank wren and give him the verbal raping of a lifetime is too much to pass up
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
wren hinted at getting “some power” in LF. but he said starting pitching would be the major concern…fucking lovely. so he’d put signing someone like jon garland over adam dunn. lovely
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Garland... Ugh.
Is it cause he’s a grizzled vet and knows how to win because he has a ring?
Why does everyone hate Adam Dunn? He’s just plain awesome, and that might be an understatement.
Hey! Who's jacked for casey Kotchman?
....who is actually a pretty good player and several yrs away from free agency….
"...in baseball you wear a cap." -- george carlin
Doesn’t seem like anybody’s jacked right now. for anything.
Except maybe jug, who went to get some Jack…
Hope he has a drink or fifty for me while he’s at it.
Hey - you're going to like kotch
while the yankees and angels are piling up hundred dollar bills to throw at tex….

Its sad when you realize your team's season is dead
But I’m excited to see what we can build for next year. I’m a little disappointed in that I thought we could have gotten a bit more for Tex than we did. We may end up getting as much for Ohman as we did for Tex when its all said and done. Kotsay should bring us back a prospect of some sort. I’m just hoping Wren doesn’t trade Kelly Johnson.
live thread participation has hit an all-time low.
RALLYING BEHIND THE REV! awesome. he’s a couple of starts away from qualifying for the ERA crown. he would have done it if his last start wasn’t cut short
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
just curious who is the Rev? i’m a rookie here myself lol

in case you haven’t noticed, we have nicknames for EVERYONE on the roster
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.

that went horribly, great braves baseball right there

I just wish he’d go ahead and blow his elbow out. If he was on the Braves he would have blown it on the first day of spring training.
Haven't got to say this lately:
All Thumbs Jefferson strikes again!
Rome doing its best Atlanta impersonation tonight...
BOTH catchers on the roster got hurt in tonight’s Rome game, and the backup infielder (Chad Lundahl) is in catching. The recap looks like this:
Rome Braves catcher Benji Johnson left the game due to an injured leg.
Defensive switch from shortstop to catcher for Chad Lundahl.
Defensive switch from third base to second base for Adam Coe.
Defensive switch from second base to shortstop for Cole Miles.
Defensive Substitution: Samuel Sime replaces catcher Benji Johnson, batting 8th, playing third base
So, there you go. Just thought I’d share.
The catcher (Lundahl)
Poor guy had a throwing error, and the pitchers have 4 wild pitches credited to them so far….
i can’t get a box score for rome tonight. i’m mildly irritated
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Try this....
If that doesn’t work, go to milb.com and go to the scoreboard for class A….it should be there….
Am I reading this right?
Blanco actually has 4 hits tonight?
It seems like he has a lot of multi-hit days. Or is it just me?
I'm relieved
That Teixeirapalooza is over. I almost declined gondeee’s request, since it was an image that would only live for a few days, but at least it got its use.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Thanks guys
I try my best. Going for the cheezy Vegas-lights motif, since that’s what I thought this whole situation kinda was.

john lackey has a no hitter through 8. TIME TO SWITCH GAMES!!!

The Cardinals' timing couldn't have been worse
With the whole Pujols thing we’ve established, the real Pujols couldn’t have come to Atlanta during a time when nobody’s watching, posting, or even caring in some instances.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
When Cardinals run home, there is only one set of footprints
Because Pujols is carrying them.

Why'd he steal a base?
Doesn’t Albert know that stolen bases don’t create runs and are highly overrated? I read that somewhere once…..
Because when you get caught stealing
You hurt your team more than stealing two bases.
So steal at a 75%+ clip and get your team an extra .1 to .3 wins a year.
So don't get caught
Rickey Henderson, Lou Brock, Ty Cobb, Tim Raines, Vince Coleman, Honus Wagner,
Kenny Lofton, Otis Nixon, Maury Wills, Ozzie Smith kind of had the right idea. But what do they know?
You know
Despite everything going on, I think the Braves are playing decently today. Lots of patience, lots of good fighting off pitches, and as indicative of Jeff Francoeur, I think people might be trying to step up right now.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Honestly
I think people forget about the actual game about baseball and spend more time bickering and arguing amongst each other, especially here. Yes, winning and success is nice, but I still have a handful of baseball tickets sitting on my desk, and even if the Braves make a miraculous mad-dash or just slowly wither up, I’m still going to go to all of those games. I love baseball too much to be miserable for the rest of the season. Besides, I don’t have any better ideas to pass my evenings than watching a baseball game.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Good at bat
By of all guys, Jeff Francoeur.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
My prediction...
...is that they will start playing a little better now that they are considered “out of contention”, especially Frenchy. I hope so anyway, since I’ll be watching anyway.
They'll be relaxed, hopefully
Being spoiler can be fun, and extremely satisfying. Imagine the complications we can throw into the NL Central, with the remaining series with the Cardinals, Brewers and Cubs. It also doesn’t look like a 90-game winner is going to come out of the NL East again, and we still have to play the Diamondbacks a few more times.

Hahaha
Gnortony. Way to make people not wait to see Kotchman suit up for us. That’s the best way.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Kotchman
Anyone have an ETA on him? Tomorrow maybe?
More importantly, anyone have a good nickname lined up?
“the failure”
“the disappointed”
“captain no hit”
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Come on joe
A lot of us weren’t looking forward to Kotsay, but he hasn’t done a horrible job. At least give Kotchman a few games to establish where he stands before his head is demanded on a stake.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Not to pile on but I agree (as I stated earlier in the thread)
Who knows, maybe he will endear himself to all of us somehow.
I wonder if he is married and has a hot wife that will change everything in a heartbeat.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
Drat
I can’t find a picture. I’m not trying hard, but I found out that Casey is married, and his wife’s name is Susan.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I think...
Susan is his mom. I found articles about his dad that mentioned “his wife, Susan”. So far can’t find out if he’s married, but I’m on it!
to me, he will FOREVER be the guy that “we got for tex”. he’s going to have to do a HELL of a lot to shed that label in my mind. unless we somehow re-sign tex, which is TOTALLY unlikely now, he’s gonna have that label unless he changes something drastically
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
if he turns into…no i won’t say tex because few players are THAT good…how about fred mcgriff? yeah, if he turns into fred mcgriff, i’ll praise him
Following the Braves...one long hard drink at a time.
Well.....
I still can’t figure out what I feel about the trade. I wish Wren would have gotten more pitching or something, but he didn’t. But, we knew we wouldn’t resign Tex, maybe the Angels deal was the best Frank could get. We would still have been in the position next season of having to find a 1st baseman to play until Freeman, Ka’aihue, or whoever is ready, which will probably be 3 or 4 years. Which is probably all we’ll have Kotchman for. So really, Wren has kind of taken care of something that would have been an off season item on the to-do list, plus he got the pitcher who, you never, know, could end up being good. I guess the key question is – was that really the best Wren could do for Tex? I’ll have to assume so until other facts (not rumors) come out, if they do. So, seeing things in that light, I say welcome to Atlanta, Casey, for however long it lasts.
Hmm
Gonzalez is either suffering from another one of his not-save-situation outings, something’s hurting, or somewhere in the back of his mind, he knows he’s on the block. Or he’s just not having a good night. It’s hot and humid as balls in Atlanta right now.

WTF 8-2?
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
LOL
I love how PTV plays that “hope and optimism” style music, win or lose. It always makes the losses seem not quite so bad, and promising for the opponent.

Take care guys.
October may be all but completely lost, but there is still all of August and September to watch/play ball.
