Conor Jackson
I'm not trying to jump the gun here, but I'd like to know what's going through the Diamondbacks' heads with regard to the possible Jackson/ Tex deal.
Can anybody tell me what's up with Conor Jackson? From the small sample of stats I've seen he looks like a pretty stellar prefomer, but I was simply wondering if any stat heads (hint hint Beard) could tell me what he's projected to do and how long he has left on his contract, etc.
I was also curious to see why the D'backs would want to make this deal anyway. It seems to me that any power numbers and average gained by Tex would be lost by Jackson. I would like to see it happen, but it just kinda seems like a wash for Arizona.
Opinions?... GO!

he’s not eligible for arbitration yet, which is huuuuuge. his numbers have markedly improved every year of his career. excellent plate discipline, usually has even K/BB numbers. on base machine. power is improving.
in other words, he’s A LOT better than scott thorman

From a Dbacks blogger
there is no reason we would want to give away Jackson, if we trade for Tex then the braves are going to receive Chad Tracy and a pitcher.
Sorry, but Jackson is untouchable since has now has more value as a left fielder

Be careful bringing up his name...
...around any DBacks fans because when I did I got verbally accosted for bring up such a stupid trade (even though Gammons brought it up in the first place, but they don’t seem to care for that).
With that being said, if we could get Conor straight up for Tex that would be a great deal. He’s hitting almost right in line with his PECOTA 75 percentile forecast of .309/.399/.517 and he’s expected to produce right within those slash stats (slightly lower) for the next seven years.
I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

He’s legit. He’s putting up .360/.413/.590 over the last month so his stats right now may be slightly over his head, but you could expect a .850+ OPS from the guy for many years to come. He’s slightly below average defensively at 1B, but his offensive has more than made up for it…contributing 4.2 wins according to WARP.
With that being said, the DBack’s wouldn’t trade him if they were smart. If we wake up one of these next few mornings and find he’s on our team we would have to consider that a major win…but don’t count on it.

I’ve had Jackson on my fantasy team all year, so I’ve been keeping up with his stats. He’s hit .300+ all year, has some pop, and even stolen a few bases. He has times where he isn’t hitting well, but they all do.
I hear he’s the best hittier the Dbacks have. I doubt they would want to trade him for a 2-month rental, even if they are looking at getting two first round picks in the end.
