If you were Wren...
What would you ask for from the D-Backs, Rays, Red Sox, and Yankees?
Here's my stab at this:
DBacks : Tex for Chad Tracy, Micah Owings, and Cesar Valdez.
Rays: Tex and Ohman for Niemann, Ryan Reid, and Jesse Darcy
Red Sox: Tex and Ohman for Bowden, Bard, and Reddick
Yankees: Tex for Dellin Betances, Jeffrey Marquez, and Brad Suttle
Of course I'm sure there's no way we'll get these kind of returns.

None of the above? Throw Ohman into the DBacks deal and there may be enough for Conor Jackson.

Tsk, Tsk, tsk
Why would you sell low on the best hitter available and one of the best relievers available? Not to mention that the team who ends up with Tex and Ohman (if they are traded together) get three draft picks to restock. The DBacks have to give up, personally I think, atleast two of Scherzer, Parker, Jackson. Sox would have to give up atleast, Masterson, Bowden, and maybe a Sox MLer. Rays would definitely have to give up Price or Davis, along with Brignac. Yanks would give up either Kennedy or hughes preferably the latter, and Jackson, and throw in Betances or Melancon.
Also, forget what these writers are saying about sources and such. It’s called disinformation. If i can get you (my rival and biggest obstacle to the championship) to think I am not interested in trading, then you aren’t going to up the price on me.

you're crazy
for thinking that any of these prospects aren’t within our reach. I am not saying every prospect I mentioned from each team would be offered, but a combination of prospect(s) plus one or two of the ones mentioned is a reasonable asking price. While not all top draft picks pan out, you do have a higher % of them being valuable assets to your team. So as I stated the team(s) that end up with Ohman and/or Tex get them plus 1 or 2 high draft picks that we would be essentially giving them as well. So take your puff puff stuff and go blow it out your butt.

You’ve said this (or something to this effect) so many times, on so many threads, that if it happens, and a major fire/other random act of destruction happens in your area, I’m going to be suspicious. :)

Haha, could you imagine the path of destruction bigjoe would have to embark on if somehow all of these things came to pass?

It would be similar to when that dude stole a tank from an army base a few years ago and went on a rampage. Dumbass would still be going if he didn’t drive it up on top of a Jersey barrier.

I dont understand
why some Braves fans like Tex and 2 draft picks for Tracy and Owings? Some say well Tracy and Owings is better than the 2 draft picks. You might be right or may not be but they are not even worth 1/3 of what Tex is. No way we give a team the PRIVELAGE of tryin to get to the World Series AND gettin 2 draft picks and we get nothin in return. I would rather Tex rot on the Braves team the rest of the year than see him helpin another team if the BEST we can get is Tracy and Owings.

I agree on T and O
but I might consider a Jackson/Owings matchup. Otherwise it’s Tracy, Parker/Scherzer and a low level pros for me.

MLBTR says braves want a 1st baseman, starter and power-hitting OF so..
Dbacks: Bryan byrne, Brooks Brown/Cesar Valdez, Jarrod Parker/Max Scherzer
- didnt see a power-hitting OF rly in their system.
Rays: Desmond Jennings, Jeremy Hellickson (Their Tommy Hanson 83/5 K/BB in high a), Chris Nowak (a 3B with a ton of errors prob could be moved to first)
Red Sox: Lars Anderson, josh reddick, michael bowden/David Pauley
- asking for both Anderson and Bowden might be too much
i dont see the desperate need for the braves to get a major league ready 1B (ie: Jackson) back in a deal because i dont see the braves contending next year with the rotation they’re gonna have anyways

I dunno. Kennedy is pretty intriguing and Hughes is definitely major league material. Not that they’re probably willing to trade Hughes (Kennedy, I think they would bite), but I disagree when you say the Yankees have nothing to offer.
Although if I were Wren I would insist on Hughes because beyond those two I’m not overly impressed.

Kennedy doesn’ thrill me. I like Hughes, but he’s a little injury prone so far and besides I don’t think that the Yanks would be willing to deal him.

No way
Rays give up Price a lefty who throws upper 90’s they will not go towards a two month rental while they lead their division neway.
We need to get a first basemen in the trade who can play next year and bridge Freeman or Heyward or Flowers whoever pans out in the position. We also need a pitcher cause you can’t have too much pitching preferably power pitching a la Scherzer. I would settle for Tracy/Scherzer or Parker with the Dbacks. I would also take a package of Youk/Masterson or Lars Anderson/Masterson and others.
The main thing this trade needs to do is get us a guy who can play LF or 1B next year. I say this because we have 48 mil coming off the books if Glav and Smoltz don’t come back. Then you put about 17 million for pay raises and the draft picks we get. Then we can go out and get Adam Dunn or even Ben Sheets to take the torch from Huddy cause he could be gone next year. Then the trade enables us to fill the 1B spot and FA will get us some good guys to fill the other spots.

MLB ready
I think you hit it there…which is what is taking Wren so long, and which is why I’m worried he might actually take the Tracy, Owings + offer, because they’re MLB players and ready to step in now and next year. Jarrod Parker, while a great prospect, probably isn’t going to be ready by 2010, let alone next year. I think if we deal to the D’Backs, Max Scherzer would be the best of both worlds (I’m excluding Conor Jackson because I seriously can’t see the D’Backs trading him).
But with the Tracy and Owings pairing, we get MLB ready players; the problem arises when you realize they’re thoroughly average players, and not equal to what we can get for him.

Give Wren some credit
until he proves he doesn’t deserve it. Keep in mind the anxiety on the buyers end will rise as Frank takes them deep towards the deadline.
Personally, I would take Owings if Jackson is in the deal. If not, Tracy, Parker/Scherzer and a low level is what i’m after.

I’d take anything that had more upside than two players who won’t hit full season ball until 2010. Hopefully, there’d be a near major league ready guy who could be productive at a corner spot; ie Brandon Wood, Conor Jackson, etc. But really anything worth more than the two picks we’re getting.
