Cards @ Braves: Waiting for the Trades, Day 1

St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves, Jul 28, 2008 7:10 PM EDT

Just sitting around, waiting on trades, just waiting around.

Hey, by the way our lineup is going to look a little wacky tonight -- no Chipper, no McCann. I am glad that Clint Sammons is back in the big leagues. I was pretty impressed with him during his callup last season, though he hasn't been that good this year at Richmond, so we'll see. Also, it's good to see Charlie Morton back in the bigs. Let's hope he can do a better job then Jo-Jo Reyes. After a good June (3.58 ERA), Jo-Jo has been particularly bad in July (11.48 ERA).

Let's go get them Cardinals (and try not to blow a multirun lead).

Kotsay in the cleanup spot...

Brian Jordan thinks he's being showcased.

He is an expert analysis after all. it is good to see FYF back in the seven spot.

albert pujols…if the cardinals make the playoffs, he’s gotta be the MVP, right?

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:15 PM EDT reply actions

At least we can allow people like Charlie to get plenty of time in the rest of this year. Hopefully that will translate to him being more comfortable/prepared to be consistant next year!

by clemsonfan on Jul 28, 2008 7:15 PM EDT reply actions

41 rookie starts...

The fact that were as close as we are is astounding after hearing that!!

by clemsonfan on Jul 28, 2008 7:17 PM EDT reply actions

no shit...

Think about it, next year we are only a few pieces away and some good luck with injuries from being a contender.

That is why we need to resign Tex, get an OF, and starter.

I agree completly..

I think resigning Tex is a pipe dream though

by clemsonfan on Jul 28, 2008 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, ya know what...

I’m going to dream.

Maybe we trade him, then sign him as a FA in the offseason?

man, i wish we didn’t trade adam wainwright

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:18 PM EDT reply actions

But we got a year of J.D. Drew

What a RF.

Not to mention a great person…

by mburris1 on Jul 28, 2008 7:21 PM EDT up reply actions

he got us a division title and almost won the MVP. and apparently we DIDN’T get a draft pick for him…genius work from the braves. are we even sure we’re gonna offer tex arbitration?

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:23 PM EDT up reply actions

No

We will probably ship him out.

by mburris1 on Jul 28, 2008 7:25 PM EDT up reply actions

maybe we CAN trade him and re-sign him, because our pick will most likely be a protected top 15. woooooooo

still praying for adam dunn though

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I still don't understand

Why do people hate on Adam Dunn, I would love to have him in the lineup.

His OPS is through the roof year after year.

by mburris1 on Jul 28, 2008 7:29 PM EDT up reply actions

you know how everyone loves ryan howard? adam dunn is like ryan howard, except he walks more and strikes out less

what are gas prices like down in ATL? we’re down to like 3.75 here

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:27 PM EDT reply actions

3.86 was the lowest I saw tonight driving home. That’s reg. unlead.

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:33 PM EDT reply actions

i wonder if ned coletti is dumb enough to do kershaw/laroche/loney for ohman’tex

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 7:34 PM EDT reply actions

He's dumb

But probably not that dumb.

by mburris1 on Jul 28, 2008 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions

I said probably

mostly because I am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

The situation in Chavez Ravine is not a good one, with the owner, McCourt, and the assistant GM, Logan White, meddling in just about everything that Coletti has tried to do.

So I guess we could run it by him and see what comes of it.

Wow!

Haven’t seen much braves action lately, but…i’m impressed!

by bigjoe on Jul 28, 2008 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

There's always something to look forward to

For me, it’s July 31st – then all this trade nonsense can be over with.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

$5 says Chuck James starts tomorrow

I don’t mean to pile on, but I’m just saying, he’s about the only option.

Oops

I take it back, Jorge Campillo is starting tomorrow.
