Frenchy to Richmond?

Pete Van Wieren finally said it tonight... Maybe Richmond is where Francoeur needs to go to clear his head. Any other player with his numbers would get demoted. I'm sick of this franchise treating Frenchy like a golden boy.  3 K's tonight... hits into double play with bases loaded and no outs. That makes him 2 for 20 with bases loaded this season?!?!?! I have zero confidence when he's at the plate w/ RISP.... Come on!!!

Not that you are wrong...

...but here you go:

I share royhobbs sentiments that it gets annoying when people only post to bitch after losses. Nobody seems to post when were winning…

"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."

Time for a change !

I agree NocahomaNoMo it is time to send Frenchy to Triple ~ A if even for a few weeks just to get him back on track and out of the public eye. Sorry Jeff but if you want new contract you need to play more like McCann and make a few all-star teams etc… before you get a 6 year $26 million dollar deal.

I agree

He’s under a lot of pressure in the bigs, being the face of the franchise and all. It could be good for him to go to Richmond if for no other reason than to just get a fresh start in Atlanta, without all the fanfare he has had to live up to since he was called up.

But, on the other hand, I wonder if Francoeur will let it hurt his pride or his confidence to be sent back down? Maybe if that was to happen, would it hurt more than help?

by skipcaray on Jul 2, 2008 11:32 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

i think the best thing to do is ask Jeff, which is something we would never hear about, find out if he would be responsive to being sent down and getting some ABs to get his head right. Im generally not a fan of sending guys down after they’ve played three big league seasons on an everday level, but in this case it might work… hell the Phils did it with Myers

you know, this isn’t just some fan bitching. theres an article on the braves site saying there have been internal discussions about this. send him down. i don’t give a rats ass if we have a flea hitting OF of kotsay, blanco and jones/anderson. they’ll still have higher OPSes than francoeur, and probably not strike out/GIDP as much.

if i was closer to atlanta, i’d egg his house on a nightly basis

Have you been into the growler? You have a big more fire in your posts than usual!

As I said, I don’t really disagree that some time in Richmond might help Jeff. But, I’m just tired of people coming on after a loss and posting a bunch of doom and gloom. I mean, it’s nice to have a place to vent, but I use the site for more than that and I think everyone else should too.

I don’t care what we have to do, send Jeff to Japan to get a bat from the magical forest, let’s get him right!

i’m just really fucking pissed at stats like “only michael bourn, willy taveras & juan pierre have lower OPSes among NL OFs than francoeur”, or nerdy stats like “jeff francouer has the lowest WPA among NL OFs by 0.55 (which is a huge margin)”, or irritating shit like “among NL OFs, only lastings milledge & michael bourn have a lower RC/9 than francoeur” (who’s RC/9 btw, is over THREE TIMES lower than chipper’s), or even a mildly made up statistic like “jeff francouer has the 3rd lowest clutch rating among NL OFs”.

i mean really. he’s doing NOTHING good right now. i wonder if he still thinks he deserves that multimillion dollar contract. if i remember correctly, didn’t he get called up straight from pearl? he’s got no time at richmond AT ALL. thats a pretty crucial step…and he just fucking skips it. i know thats not necessarily HIS fault, but jesus christ. his confidence can’t be any possibly worse than it is now, so WHY NOT let him get some essential development in? thorman probably got rushed into a starter’s role last year, and there wasn’t a huge uproar when HE got jettisoned off the bench for ruben gotay, so why not let francoeur try to NOT SUCK AT EVERYTHING a little bit?

by bigjoe on Jul 3, 2008 1:08 AM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

the only difference is Thorman never really succeeded int he Majors whereas French has 3 years of varying success, First year outstanding, second year outstanding but needed to hit for a higher avg, thrid year lost some power but still drove in a ton of runs and hit for a high avg

francouer’s 2006 was outstanding? his OPS+ was 87. this year, its 81. thats fucking BAD

Maybe I'm the only one

But I have in my settings, to have the last 25 fanposts showing; I did that when I disappeared for a week, and wanted to play catch up. I haven’t changed it since.

Currently, at the time of me typing this, there are three threads that have in the titles “FYF,” “Frenchy” or “Francoeur.” All of them are putting him down. There is also a Corky Miller thread, a Tim Hudson thread, and two more threads about the bullpen. All of which were posted after a loss, and are putting down all the corresponding players. Other than that, are my own attempts at subject changes, and one glowing post about Tommy Hanson’s no-no.

Hey, we’re all entitled to our opinions here; and I am not saying nobody’s allowed to post, unless it’s not bitching, but keep in mind that if you want to slam one of the current Braves, save for Chipper or Smoltz; it’s probably already been said before, and you will in all likelihood be stating the very obvious.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Your last line

I thought pretty much the same thing when I saw the post titles “Frenchy to Richmond?” and “Time for a Fire Sale!” I almost didn’t bother reading either one, but the pull of (x) comments, (y) new” is too strong.

+1

Hahaha, I know the feeling. That bold type with a (x) new next to it is far too intriguing to avoid.

In response to the Francoeur issue

He’s playing unacceptably poorly – but it’s not just the fact that he is bad.
If you look at last season, when Terry talked all about how his improvement working the count and watching pitches, his average started to falter. If you tell a free swinger to be more patient and it doesn’t translate into a better average, then it’s probably not working.
There is a reason why no coach has told Vlad to quit hacking away – that’s how he plays ball, and that’s how he flourishes as a hitter. Jeff was the same way, and then his game was complicated beyond repair.
Maybe a trip to the minors will be where he can regain his old form

by sdot on Jul 3, 2008 6:12 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

...

but in all seriousness…what i meant to say was that his power faltered last year (along with his aggressiveness, then in trying to overcompensate this year, we’ve watched his average dwindle to Andruw territory.

and how can you not allow people to bitch about the bases loaded stuff? It hurts to the point of being unbearable. People need a place to talk about this issue so they don’t jump off a bridge..

by sdot on Jul 3, 2008 6:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I didn't not allow.
...I am not saying nobody’s allowed to post…

Just like I don’t tell people they can’t bitch about Francoeur and his endless LOBs, you shouldn’t be telling me that I can’t not post my picture of the crying baby in response to their redundant comments. I’m not kidding when I say that after every loss, there are a handful of new members who sign up, just to bitch. Fandom goes two ways; take the good with the bad, the bad with the good.

I know about as much as everyone else here how frustrating these losses are. But we don’t need a daily reminder of the issues that we all know are existent, even if there’s nothing we can do about it, let alone the organization.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Maybe its about time for another

Enough is enough

Everyone’s crying about everything. We are sounding like Muts fans, seriously. Jug, love the face. Look every team goes through a funk and we are in one. They’ll get out of it. Same with Jeff.

Look we just past the halfway point. If you were going to tell me that we would be 40-45 with Hudson, Jair, Jo-Jo, Morton and Campillo as our starting rotation with Smoltz and Moylan down for the year, Soriano,Glavine, Hampton on the DL, I’d be pretty pleased.

Just everyone relax.

I love getting credit...

...but that was royhobbs. I just am an insomniac and beat him to posting it last night.

I respectfully dissent

I’m not very happy being 40-45, no matter who is in the rotation. I try to stay positive, but my patience is wearing thin. I’ve seen waaay too many GIDP with the bases loaded to relax. If this team were bad, that would be one thing. But we have tons of opportunities that we are not capitalizing on. That’s the thing that gets me.

Hopefully we can turn it around, but I can’t be happy with sub-.500 baseball.

by skipcaray on Jul 3, 2008 12:45 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Send him down...

then bring him up after the the All-Star break… idk but don’t you think it would be a good idea to sign Bonds for the rest of the year… Instead of trading away prospects we just sign him. It puts more fans in the seat but i know with that there’s also media. He takes the pressure off some guys. We do need a bat and Frenchy isn’t providing anything right now. I think its a good idea… Oh, and when you not hitting the ball and your in a slump you can still steal bases… Thats the one thing that we really missed and are STILL MISSING EVER since Furcal went…

by braves077 on Jul 3, 2008 12:48 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It’s been mathematically proven that stealing bases is actually worse for you than if you just took more of a station to station approach. So I’m perfectly fine with the amount of running the Braves do…which is very little.

I'm gettin' out of this town alive...even if it kills me.

by Smoltz's Beard on Jul 3, 2008 1:10 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

To steal a base...

you’d have to be on base, and it’s hard to get on base when your name is Francoeur.

by skipcaray on Jul 3, 2008 1:48 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Sign Bonds? It’ll be a cold day in hell when that guy wears the same jersey that Henry Aaron wore. Zero chance.
