Interesting scenario
Here is an idea that was brought to my attention that i thought was pretty interesting. I know a lot of work was put into converting kelly johnson to a second baseman, but what if we were to move him back to left field filling that hole. If we did this it would create another hole at second but i think the players that we have ready to fill in there are better at that position than the ones we have filling in in the outfield. We could then use lillibridge gotay infante at 2nd which i think makes more sense. What do yall think.

Much more value as a 2B
And he was moved from the OF b/c of arm problems from TJ surgery. Don’t know if he can make those long throws.
Yep...
Not a bad thought, but I think the TJ surgery prevents him from playing OF.
Also, I don’t think the hole in LF is fielding…its that we don’t have a power bat. Shifting Kelly to LF then playing Gotay or Lillibridge (or Infante who’s hurt, but can play LF) versus Blanco really doesn’t gain us anything in the way of offense.
Blanco 264 ABs .254/.355/.311 OPS-81
Lillibridge 42 ABs .262/.279/.452 OPS- 92
Gotay 74 ABs .216/.310/ .324 OPS- 71
Infante 110 ABs .282/.344/.427 OPS- 106
Obviously small samples, but thought I’d put it up there to consider. Any other thoughts?
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
gotay or infante playing every day does NOT excite me. lillibridge on the other hand…yeah, i’m down with that.
any chance that if tex doesn’t resign, we move chipper to 1B and play either lilli or yuney at third next year?
I see Yunel as our 3rd baseman of the future, simply because of his frame, unless someone in the minors really steps up (i.e. Van Pope, Eric Cambell, Jon GIlmore, maybe Brandon Hicks convert him from SS to 3B). He has a good build and could stand to put on some muscle and maybe add some power to his game. Nothing against Yunel at SS i just think Lillibridge can’t play 3rd as effectively, specifically in terms of what you want from your Corner Infielder Offensively. So whether that means CHipper is at first or Chipper is no longer with the team, i assume no longer with the team implies retirement (i hope to pujols he doesnt get traded
"We win today, that's two in a row... if we win tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before..."
Moving Kelly...
It’s just not going to happen. We go through this far too often, it seems to me.
