Nationals @ Braves Game 2 Open Thread: Traffic in the ATL
Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves, Jul 19, 2008 7:10 PM EDT
The Georgia DOT is doing construction on the north side of the connector, so if you're headed down to the game via 75 or 85 southbound you may want to allow an extra half-hour to an hour to get to the park. I drove up 85 today and traffic was backed up all the way back to Georgia 400. I would recommend taking 285 to 20 and get to Atlanta that way -- especially if you're one of those who don't like to sit in traffic. Check out this website before you leave for the park.
And back at the Ted, we won a one-run game last night.... how about that. Hudson had a good outing last night despite the line score that says he gave up five runs. Let's hope Gonzo was just shaking off the second half cobwebs, or serving up some free hits for ex-teammates. The surgeon goes tonight.... let's keep this winning streak going!

Pictures speak louder than words

At game tonight, rooting for our Kid
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
don't think I'll be around...
somebody post victory pictures, should we need them!
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
Just because it's your birthday weekend...
we’ll let you slide! Nice posting of them last night, btw. I like the side by side.
I’ll be at the game, too, sitting behind Greg White (or whatever we’re calling him these days, I kinda got lost when I went on vacation), or Norton-y, or Prado…anyway, left field.
You liked that?
I thought I’d mix it up a bit…glad somebody noticed!
I’m sure I’ll get to watch part of the game, just don’t think I’ll be posting.

ATLANTA—Yunel Escobar might not be ready to return to the lineup during this weekend’s series against the Nationals, but the Braves could get Rafael Soriano back as soon as Sunday.Soriano returned to Atlanta from his native Dominican Republic on Friday, and during a meeting with Braves manager Bobby Cox, the right-handed reliever indicated he was ready to end his lengthy stint on the disabled list. He’ll test his right elbow during a bullpen session at Turner Field on Saturday and then possibly be activated on Sunday.
“He thinks he’s real close to being 100 percent,” Cox said of Soriano, whose troublesome elbow has limited him to just nine appearances this year.
Soriano, whose current stint on the disabled list began on June 10, made three recent Minor League rehab appearances in the Dominican Summer League. He was assigned there to allow him to tend to some undisclosed family matters while testing his elbow.
“I feel everything will be all right,” said Soriano, whose elbow discomfort began during Spring Training. “I feel good. I feel great.”
While Soriano could be activated later this weekend, there’s still a chance that Escobar’s strained left shoulder could force him to go on the disabled list. Braves general manager Frank Wren said the 25-year-old shortstop would be evaluated over the next couple of days before such a decision is made.
Escobar was scheduled to meet with one of the Braves’ doctors after Friday night’s series opener against the Nationals. The shoulder strain which he suffered on June 24 and aggravated on July 9 has prevented him from taking batting practice during Thursday’s voluntary team workout and again on Friday afternoon.
Escobar hasn’t played since July 9, and if he is placed on the disabled list, he could be eligible to return for the July 25 series opener against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
they’d better not strip GONZO of his closer’s role. and i’m all for a scorching brent lillibridge in the lineup for a little while longer
they might, but Soriano’s elbow will “tender up” again after his first game, and it’ll be back to Gonzo.
Yeah, but Gonzo looked to struggle last night...
Might not be a bad thing to have Soriano.

I'm a big believer...
...in Priceline. I got a great deal in Buckhead the last time I stayed in Atlanta.
not here, just stopping by
What a lineup…
No Kelly, no Yunel, no Escobar?

I am so jealous...
...btw, don’t eat anything before the game, because you want to get your money’s worth.
thanks for the advice!
I hope the game goes 22 innings!
Maybe I’ll make a TC sign!

oh wait...
I was thinking of the ScumTrust seats with the free food. Still, fantastic seats, and they do have waiter service so you don’t have to go get your food. I sat in that section for the Mets game I went to in May.
This is beginning to suck.
They’re getting men all over the bases, but they can’t get them in.
JJ's staying steady, though
8 pitches that inning. If they can just SCORE SOME DAMN RUNS
Didn't he have one in the All Star Ga...wait.
never mind.
He had one against Seattle 6/21.
Took them by surprise, I’d say.
Did I just see what I think I saw?
Is FYF on base twice in a row?
I'm beyond trying to figure out Bobby's decisions at this point
Do you get the feeling he’s just playing out the string?
Son of a...
Willie the worldbeater. 2 for 4 yesterday, 2 for 4 today.
THIS IS WHY YOU HAVE THE LOWEST RATINGS IN BASEBALL!!!
wait, doesn’t don sutton work for them? i miss his drunken ramblings
Thank Pujols we had Prado in there tonight-no hits and a botched tag at second. This platoon is great!
Play him more!
Maybe we can get an earlier draft position!
Stupid Nationals announcers...
...talking about Lannon, and how “the really great ones” get it done, even without their best stuff.
everything is relative...
Nationals announcers forget what good baseball looks like.
Crap. 2 straight get on.
Here comes the Brave-killer.
This feels like 1988 all over again.
Everybody plays better against us than against other teams.
Fracouer throws back to 1st, concedes the run
Awesome. Of course, if he had thrown it 15 feet up the netting like he did earlier, LoDuca might have lumbered into scoring position.
Stupid Nationals announcers...
..”the Nats with a curly W in the books” and said it twice, as if once wasn’t toolish enough.
wtf.
I don’t know if I want to go to the game now…
...okay, I really do. I’ll be in 101, close to the front!
