Mr. Glass.......
I'm sure hoping I can fill 75 words while talking about this %#%^ *!$ steal we took from the Rockies years back. I dont know if I need more than a few though.
Ha.
That's what I had originally envisioned.
But seriously, I doubt anyone on here even actually considered his return a possibility. Even through all the stupid BS we've been hearing, about how he's optimistic, Hampton could improve the rotation, etc..., I didnt seriously think we'd ever see him pitch again. So, this new addendum to the Glasstastic Voyage is really a much needed humorous chapter. Funny in a haha way, not in a "I better laugh or I'll cry" way we're so familiar with.
I think the Braves need to get their asses beat. Someone should throw at their heads, behind them, whatever, but get them charged up. I dont recall seeing one before, but if the Bravos had a bases clearing brawl, and it went either way, I think that might charge them up into playing as a ^#%$ team for a change.

A Braves player fighting would be a sight to see. I can’t recall for the life of me the last time a Braves player took a swing at anyone. The closest things I’ve seen were Ramon Ortiz plunking Francoeur, and Jeff taking his dear sweet time taking first while glaring and barking obscenities at him. And when Chuck James was getting shelled by the Mets, he took his frustration out on Oliver Perez and threw at his head, which Perez retaliated by doing the same. OH, and how could I forget last season, when Ted Lilly grazed Edgar Renteria’s chin, Renteria having to be intercepted at home plate from going to the mound before taking his base while Lilly was tossed, and then Renteria immediately stealing second, while forearming Mike Fontenot in the face on the slide pop-up.
Out of the current roster, I can’t really see many of them actually getting into a fight. Maybe Francoeur, out of all the starters, but I see more guys like Escobar, Gotay, or perhaps Corky Miller getting into a scuffle. If Moylan weren’t hurt, I’d be willing to put money on him in a fight, because he’s a big guy, and with all those tattoos, little stings wouldn’t bug him the least bit. But I could never see guys like Lillibridge or Blanco fighting. . .
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Normally I'm not a violent person....
....but a good fight just sounds so….fun? I can definitely picture Escobar in the midst of it all.

Maybe Hudson...
but I think he would be more likely to start a fight with an umpire than a player.

I don’t think his teammates would let Huddy start a fight or get attacked. If someone rushed, you’d see Teix or Johnson or Escobar get down to the mound post-haste. No team ever wants their starting pitcher, let alone the caliber of Huddy to get tossed.

You're right
I was halfway joking (which is kinda hard to indicate in writing,) but I do recall a game earlier this season in which Huddy started barking at an umpire (probably Angel Hernandez) for giving him a god aweful strike zone if I’m not mistaken

I think I remember
I think it was when he was called for a balk on a third-to-first pick-off move, and I think the ump was “Balk-A-Day” Bob Davidson . . . but Chipper was quick to get in Huddy’s ear about how much they needed him to stay in the game, which pretty much worked.

Oh, yeah, I remember that.
If it had been Angel, Huddy would’ve been tossed just for glaring at him.

I could totally see Blanco getting in a fight. He’s the nicest guy in the world, but on field he’s as intense as they come. My best bet for a fighter on the current team is Kotsay though, he’s just hard-nosed. But I doubt we’ll see any fighting, at least not while Bobby is managing. It’s not the Braves way.

You gotta watch out for the quiet ones, too...

Ryan Klesko
I remember a fight many moons ago when Ryan Klesko ran out onto the field to join in a fray that had already started. The thing I remember most is Skip Caray describing how Klesko ran out there, was the biggest guy on the field, and was just picking guys up and tossing them off the pile to get to his teammate on the bottom. Classic.
And Otis Nixon spiking Wally Ritchie of the Phillies for plunking him. Man, I remember that bloody, torn jersey! That was June 8, 1991
And then Glavine getting tossed for throwing at Dale Murphy on June 20, 1991. I found this write-up about it….look at the names!
“Tom Glavine got his 11th victory but lost his complete game when he was ejected for brushing back Dale Murphy as the Atlanta Braves broke a five-game losing streak today with a 9-2 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Glavine allowed just 4 hits through 8 innings and had 12 strikeouts, a high in his career. He was ejected from the game by home-plate umpire Bob Davidson for throwing at Murphy, who was leading off the ninth.
In the top half of the inning, Phillies reliever Roger McDowell was ejected for hitting Otis Nixon in the shoulder after Terry Pendleton had driven in a run with a two-out single.”

I actually had to work the night of the Otis fight..
so I had it on video tape at one time or another. It’s long gone by now. And the Klesko fight, alas, I never had….

What about the time....
Anyone remember like around 98-99-00 when Eddie Perez attacked Paul Byrd (I think I have those names right) when Byrd came up to bat in Atlanta? I cannot remember all the circumstances, probably cause its been like 10 years, but anyone else who can fill in the details…..that would be great!
