Thorman sent to China
Yep, erstwhile first baseman Scott Thorman is going to China to play for the Canadian Olympic team. Former Braves Chris Reitsma and Pete Orr, as well as former Braves farmhands Stubby Clapp (who's actually been coaching the last two years) and Adam Stern are also on the team. Orr's actually in the majors right now with the Nationals and he's still going. Hard to argue that playing for your country is going to be more rewarding than playing out a meaningless season in DC.

I thought Major-League level players (Orr… hahahaha) weren’t eligible to go to Beijing?
Imagine if that rule weren’t in place, in theory pro players could go, and were willing to go? The Canadian team could have a squad with guys like Justin Morneau, Jason Bay, Ryan Braun, and Joey Votto and a pitching rotation with guys like Rich Harden, Erik Bedard, Ryan Dempster, Jeff Francis. Thorman, Orr and Reitsma could be optioned out of that squad, too.
...and Russell Martin to catch. Wow, they’d probably, suck, on second thought.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I guess I should be one to talk.
There's nights that I can't even walk.
There's days I couldn't give a fuck.
And in between is where I'm stuck.

Stubby Clapp
Can we not call this guy up? That is a classic baseball name!
"Have you ever had your heart broken?"
"Yeah, when we lost the pennant in '87."
