Michael Hampton
He was removed after throwing two complete innings tonight in Mississippi. I'm not sure if he is hurt of not, but I know he threw more than this in his previous start with MS.
He gave a bomb and Van Pope and Matt Young saved him from giving up any more base hits.

who is this guy, and what’s his ceiling, is it possible we could see him this year or is he a year off?

Someone call the pressbox at Trustmark Park and ask what's going on with Hampton

That's just funny
I’m not sure why Hampton is even allowed to pitch. The Braves should just pack his bags and send him home. Pay his over priced salary, but as a Braves fan, I honestly don’t want to see his face in a Braves uniform anymore.

Seriously, what’s up with Hampton’s groin? Is he doing amateur porn when he’s not pitching? He’d have plenty of time for it. There’s no other excuse to have that tender of a groin.

I swear
that this dude is making this shit up at this point. Who the fuck tweaks their FUCKING GROIN throwing a baseball…?
I’m not mad because I expected him to make a comeback… I’m mad because I think this dude is taking everyone for a ride and laughing all the way to the bank…. for the last several years.
It’s absurd.

if thats what he was doing he wouldnt continually go through rehab. Its frustrating to read the headlines everyday, but give the guy a break. He has leg problems, most likely because he has to use his legs so much to pitch, becuase of his smaller frame. Its somehting you see with a lot of pitchers that arent real tall, look at Pedro he constantly has a hamstring or a groin problem. Rehab is one of the most grueling thigns in the world, If he just wanted to collect his check he would ask to go on IR. also if all he did was tweak his groin its not a big deal, he misses two starts and he’ll be fine ( i know we’ve heard it about this guy before). I admire the hell out fo Mike Hampton, he has been consistenlty riddled with bad luck, and everytime he starts over and does his best to get back on the mound. Anyone can see it kills him everytime he gets this kind of news, his face showed it when he got scratched from his first scheduled start with the pectoral thing.

I admire your optimism.
But I for one, am tired of Mike Hampton, to be quite honest. I don’t know what is going on with his body, but this really is to the point of ridiculousness.
You know what would really be funny? If the Mets or Phillies sign him next year for the league minimum and he wins 16 games.

mike hampton is a fucking MAGICIAN of a pitcher. his WHIP is always arounr 1.4, but his ERA is league average or lower. and he has HORRIBLE strikeout numbers. i honestly have no idea how he does it. he DOES keep his dingers allowed low, and must induce a shitload of DPs. i’d love to see his GIDP and LOB lines, if anyone could hook me up

2.13 GB/FB for his career.
For comparison, Hudson is 2.32. Hampton also has 262 GDP vs Hudson’s 212 with a difference of 70 IP, which makes sense when you allow a ton more base runners.
Oh and for extra fun, Webb’s GB/FB ratio is 3.69 and Chuck James’s is 0.58.

The amount of work required for rehab is pretty much the same as playing a season, if not more (depending on the injury). Plus Hampton has to work overtime cause he’s usually rehabbing during the off-season too. It sucks, but it’s not like he isn’t trying.
Hudson tweaks hamstrings every once in a while too. It happens, except Hampton is made of glass as well.

Good one guys.
This is really funny. Even got the AJC involved. Nice. So, when will Hampton start? Is he taking Morton’s spot?

Its just a tweaked groin. Not a strained pec, or a torn quad, or a torn elbow ligament. Tweaked groins don’t keep you out long.

Kyle Davies
And now he doesn’t even play for us anymore
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Kyle’s was torn if i’m not mistaken, and i’m never wrong, so the odds are unlikely.

Haha
nice. I agree that a “tweak” shouldn’t keep you out too long, but this is Mike Hampton we’re talking about. 60-day DL.

The thing is...
...it might just be a “tweak” that would only cause him to have to leave the game and miss his next start, but he would have the “tweak” in every start.

if i remember correctly didnt he have a tweak in the winter leagues, he shut it down as a precaution, but was good to go when spring training started… so if it was anyone but Hampton it wouldnt be a problem. I think he’s still on track more or less to make it back after the All-Star break

Not to mention..
..he didn’t tell anyone about said groin problem until it got way to much for him to handle, which got him in the dog house to begin with.

Jug...
...are you surprised?
I guess I should be one to talk.
