All-Star Game Open Thread
Chipper Jones is hitting fifth between Pujols and Holliday... not a bad spot.
Brian McCann should get in there at some point -- his third consecutive All-Star game. I wonder what Jeff Francoeur thinks of that. By the way, McCann has already equaled last year's homerun total.

Is this the kind of production we should expect from McCann on a yearly basis from now on. He is flashing 30+ homer power with the .300 avg. Is this for real? or is he a 20+ power guy.
by gopherbroke on Jul 15, 2008 7:26 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Yes
i would say he is gonna avg out at around 27 a year, he doesnt have Mike Piazza power, so he isnt a 30+ pr 40+ kinda guy. but he has more power potential than 20 a year. He’ll be around 30 every year , but probably never hit more than 35, which isnt a bad thing. but i think he can definately hit 300 consistently

I sense a change in his approach...
maybe it’s confidence that comes from success so far in his young career…maybe it’s urgency to carry a heavier load as a multiple all-star…but for whatever reason Heap is looking ‘go yard’ with at least 1 or 2 swings every AB. Nice result so far eh? Up in homers, and doubles (famous triple), and keeping his BA in tact!

Has anyone ever hit Homers from both sides of the plate in an All-Star Game? Chipper takes Lee deep in the first with Utley, and Berkman on base.
