TC day at the Ted
It has been tossed around by more than a few of us to have a TC meet-up game at the Ted to sport our J. Kotsay shirts and so bigjoe can buy us all growlers of beer. I think tentatively this was set for the Saturday, August 2nd game against Milwaukee (Retro Night, incidentally). I was just wondering if this was a sure thing and if we wanted to try to get seats in a certain section or what the deal was.
Anyway, just wanted to start a thread to figure it out.

I really want to make it. I’ve never been to The Ted. Blasphemy, right? I just need to know far enough in advance so that I can plan my work schedule around it. That drive would be a disaster though…
I have only been 1 time myself
And that was a couple summers ago. As a kid, I begged my Dad every summer to take me but he always said it was too far to drive (6 hours). So, I had to watch the Braves @ Cincinnati. In fact, included this past weekend, I have never seen the Braves win in Cincinnati (in person).
But the point of me posting this was because if we’re going to do it, we’ll need to plan it in advance for people driving a ways to get there.

I'll show up
And discreetly walk by the group conglomeration a few times and decide whether or not I want to hang out or not. . . .
Haha, kidding (right?). But that seems to be the one ideal day when I originally suggested it, since there aren’t really any more Saturday day-games at home in the season, and who wants to get (as) trashed on a Sunday? But since it is a FOX game, there’s always the possibility that an emergency Red Sox vs. Yankees game materializes out of nowhere to take its time slot, and our game would be bumped to a 7:10-7:35 time slot.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
True on the Sunday games
But Maddux (my dog) was hoping for the Sept 7th Bark in the Park game. He’s been bugging me to take him to a game for a couple years now…

So... guess what is also this day...
August 2nd, 2008
Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz knows it’s important to build a better community. That’s why John is helping the Atlanta Community Food Bank strike out hunger. Twice during the season John will autograph your favorite sports memorabilia in person when you donate canned food items to the Strike Out Hunger Food Drive (25 cans for one autograph, 50 cans for two autographs—maximum two autographs per person).
In other words, it’s the John Smoltz Autograph Day, provided you bring 25 canned goods.

I’ve already got my Smoltz signed ball, so I’m content – I figured I’d throw it out there for those on the ropes about going to the game that day. But for what it’s worth, I don’t care if Smoltz put a big ugly X on my baseball, it’s not like I’m going to sell it or anything, I know he signed it, and that’s good enough for me.

See..
...again it’s things like this that piss me off that I live on the West Coast. Anyone need a roommate? I clean up after myself ….lol
Though I really need a gig, first. Radio blows sometimes when it comes to finding a job after loosing one…and my Baseball Info Solutions isn’t going to pay the bills in the long run. ugh.
do we want to try to
congregate at the Chop House? I am not sure what you have to do to get in there?
we should try to get there when the gates open so the place isn’t totally packed. anyone object to drinking in the morning?
If anyone wants a chance at an autograph...
Show up early. Very early. They do cap the line, and will continue to run it through the first 1-2 innings of the actual game.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
I'm going to try to make it...
...I’ll probably bring some bootleg braves gear, too. As long as I just give it away I don’t think I’m breaking any laws
they DO cap it? well fuck…i dunno if a hungover bigjoe will be able to drag in a bag of 25 canned goods at like 10 AM.
does he do pictures too, or just sigs?
I believe
They do. They still took the food goods, but after a while, it didn’t seem like they were letting anyone else in line… and to answer sddbaker, that story I wrote a few weeks ago, that was from last year’s August food drive – for a 7:35 p.m. game, I got there at like 3:30, and there was already a considerable line, that only got worse behind me.

I have never objected
before. No plans to start now.

Not an expert
The bottom part is tables & chairs, all ages, full menu. Top part is bar tables, I think 21 & older only, not sure about menu, but definitely alcohol. Found this at the official site…
Braves Chop House: An 8,000-square-foot casual dining bar and restaurant, directly above the Braves bullpen. Fans may drink and dine at the restaurant, which is terraced to facilitate views to the baseball field from as many seats as possible.
The Top of the Chop: The Top of the Chop is an extention of the famous Turner Field Chop House complete with it’s very own staircase. The Top of the Chop is the ultimate party zone furnished with 200 feet of railing to view the field and a three tiered party deck for fans to hang out with friend and still enjoy a great view of the game. Food and drinks are readily accessable from the Braves Red Chop Hut and picnic tables and bar barrel tables allow for plenty of seating. A private beer garden area is available for group outings or events.
Wow, guess I never read that before…so many spelling errors, tsk.
