Braves @ Jays: In Canada, It's Saturday Too

Atlanta Braves at Toronto Blue Jays, Jun 28, 2008 1:07 PM EDT

Let's celebrate another day of making fun of foolish people and their silly universal health care.

Also, the next person who utters the phrase "Curacao Kid" will be shot.

How ‘bout that Kid from Curacao! (Creative word-order switching…)

We’ll have some first hand info today as my brother is at the game. He’s down the right field line near the pole, good position to, as he put it “see which suckass is warming up in the bullpen, and boo Frenchy at the same time.”

by VegasAces on Jun 28, 2008 12:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tell your brother...

...to find the choad that’s blowing a horn every time a Braves pitcher throws a pitch, and to take it, and break it like soap, with his knee.

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

Awesome. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that it was an afternoon game, so I’ll have to watch in its entirety later tonight…

Esco

Is he still inured or is this still the attitude problem?

by gondeee on Jun 28, 2008 1:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

not sure

was wondering myself.

could be the “injury” which is code for attitude.

My guess

The injury is okay enough for him to play, but the attitude is making Bobby give him another day.

by VegasAces on Jun 28, 2008 1:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dunno...

This team is pretty thin right now. If he could play, he’d be playing. The Braves could fine him for his attitude.

Also, Eckstein makes for an annoying at bat.

OK...I like GNortony in a lineup...

full of young players…particularly a lineup where the youngsters are filling in for starters. But I can’t bat him in front of Heap….EVER! Heap can hit anybody…Bobby’s L/R matchup formula bites us more often than helps it seems this season.

It won’t have made a difference…That and Acosta has had some solid performances as of late. I don’t understand all the hatred being directed at the kid. So what if he isn’t as solid as the CURACAO KID?!

If Chipper strikes out in a crucial situation or Smoltzy has a bad game, I don’t mad because they both have a proven record of success. Acosta deserves to be gotten mad at because his proven record is one of sucking ass.

plus fastball (just recorded 97)...plus change (just recorded 83)...minus location. He’s learning the hard way…and it hurts me too

by OntheGo on Jun 28, 2008 3:59 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

It is indeed difficult to make mid-season adjustments

as a young player in key positions both offensively (see FYF) or defensively/pitching (see Manny). The question is…do you take the chance for them to learn how to make such adjustments away from them in the first half of the season and contending?

There, I told y'all

See it makes no difference that Acosta sucks at life from time to time. Why? Because our offense is more sporadic than, I don’t know, a five year with ADD. Bottom line: Acosta may not always perform up to par, but he is losing us less games than our offense.

and why would ring have more innings than him? He is a lefty specialist.

Acosta

I’m always one that will give players the benefit of the doubt until there is just no hope left. I’m sorry….if Manny Acosta throws a fastball clocked at 230 mph, it would still wind up in the gap as a 2 run double. The guy is terrible and sadly I haven’t seen anything the entire season that would make me think otherwise. He may do just fine in the non-pressure games, but he is one of the worst I have ever seen when the game is close.
