Tommy Hanson throws a no hitter
Tommy Hanson threw a no hitter tonight against the Birmingham Barons. he struck out 15 walked 3. He stayed ahead of hitters all night. He worked his fastball around 93-94. At one point he retired 20 batters in a row. The only runner to reach base after the 2nd inning was a walk in the eigth. All three outs in the ninth inning were recorded on pop ups to Jordan Schafer in center field. Schafer went 2-4 with a 3B and 3RBI

Ha
“Only” struck out 14. The dumbass should’ve pitched a perfect game, huh?
Wow, something to genuinely salivate over for the future… awesome news.

the barons are a solid MiLB team, but they are without any real hitting prospects.

An alleged former Baron...
...played in my softball beer league one summer. It wasn’t even fun playing with this guy, because he was taking softball a little too seriously, in a social, co-ed league. That, and the fact that pretty much every game, he hit two home runs before batting lefty.

Heck yeah!
While we’re at it, let’s shop Tex, Mac, Hoss and Nel for a couple of kick ass pitchers (maybe Pedro and Santana). We’ll bring Hanson up from AA, bring up Heyward to play first base, let Porky take over the catching duties and keep Lilly around for the long haul! I can smell the postseason!
Okay, maybe that was a little too sarcastic. Sorry about that. That is excellent news.

former Baron
I have a Birmingham Baron’s baseball card of Michael Jordan. That’s all I really know about the team.

I bet that's worth some money...
Hold onto it for twenty years. If you can.

Not really, 1991 Upper Deck was vastly over produced.
There are way too many copies of that card out for it to be worth a substantial amount of money down the road.
