Nice weekend.

Back from AC to see that our boys had a nice little weekend series.  Looks as though Campillo was left in for 1 inning too long (can't be sure, as I did not see the game), but a series victory...even against the M's...is a great thing.  Especially when a better AL team, who we just won a series against, sweeps the Phils.  It was nice to see our "terrible" bench players coming through with some clutch hits.  They were being very selfish, however, because they were not hitting towering home runs.

Depends on how you look at it

Campillo was left in one too many, but it’s not like the bullpen could do anything better that night. What’s funny was all the claims that we had the worst rag-tag starting lineup of the season, and then we win two games.

BTW, I wanted to ask, what kind of television do you have?

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

why do you ask?

BTW

Your statistical expertise was missed over the weekend. Several of us desperately wished to find out the approximate number of LOBs Francoeur has.

Oh, and I hope AC treated you well – didn’t quintuple stack 7 on the roulette wheel by any chance, did you?

Yeah, I checked all the box scores when I got back to find the following:

Blanco: 2-12,1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Infante: 6-13, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
KJ: 3-9, 2 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Tex: 4-10, 3 R, 3 HR, 5 RBI, 3 BB
Heap: 5-12, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Rake: 4-9, 2 R, 1 RBI
Gotay: 4-11, 1 R, 3 RBI
Brenteria: 1-5, 1 R
Escobar: 1-5, 1 R
Chipper: 1-3,1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB
FYF: 0-8, 9 LOB

Unreal.

Also, I did not have any crazy stories this weekend. I was playing blackjack and got dealt two 7s and your scenario popped into my head. Nothing exciting happened though. The table had some wierd thing I had never seen before called “Lucky Ladies”...every heard of it? Basically a side bet next to your actually bet, and if your first two cards equal 20 you get 4x what your side bet is. All kinds of situations can happen increasing your odds (pairs of face cards, same suit 20, etc.) This lady sits next to me and puts $5 into this little side bet and she is dealt two Queens, both hearts…payout is 125x . She took her cash and left after playing 1 hand.

Oooh

I’m thinking of an AC trip next summer, this Lucky Ladies thing sounds veeeeerry interesting. Which casino was that?

by VegasAces on Jun 23, 2008 10:59 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It was at Bally’s…my first time there. Before I’ve been to the Taj, Tropicana, and Borgata. Borgata is still the nicest, but I’ve had my best luck at the Taj.

Lucky Ladies

Sounds advantageous for a card-counter…

If you comb through some of the weekend’s game threads, you’ll see why I was asking for the LOB total. Can’t seem to get an approximate count, but found at least how many RBI chances he was given. Not a good weekend for Francoeur, the Turner Field fans have begun to turn on him with boos now.

Lucky Ladies, huh? I’ve never heard of that iteration, but nothing surprises me in blackjack side bets anymore. Kind of makes it no longer blackjack, but what a lot of Vegas casinos change into “Super Fun 21,” where their advantage becomes that BJs are payed out even money instead of 2:1, 4:3, or 6:5, but they sucker in players to make these side bets that have lower probability. The fact that your lady walked after her one hand shows her brilliance at getting out while the gettin’s good. I’ve seen some different games, such as 2:1 payout on diamond suite only, jokers are in the deck that gives the player an automatic 21, and playing a 3-card poker hand with the bust card if you bust over… As much as I enjoy some variation, single-deck blackjack is still my cup of tea.

Yeah, she peaced out with the quickness while I stayed there hemorrhaging from the wallet.

I’m still pretty green when it comes to gambling, so I usually stay away from the variations of any game. Normally stick to Texas Hold’em (lost half my stack when a guy had a bigger flush than I did one hand, and the other half when I had A/K with an Ace on the board and no other possiblities. I was betting big and some donkey keeps calling me. Of course he has pocket 5s and catches his set on the river) and blackjack. Was not able to find a single-deck game this weekend, however.

I’m not a poker player – at all. I don’t know the game very well, and I don’t play poker at all. To me, the un-appeal of poker is the amount of mental skill required to play, with bluffing, and mind games. And nowadays, everyone shows up to the casinos wearing hats and mirrored shades, thinking they’re a WSOP “pro-athlete.”

I stick to craps, roulette, and blackjack, all of which are games where it is players vs. casino, and more luck than skill – in poker, it’s bad enough that the casinos want your money, I don’t need competitive gamblers to hate my guts, and want nothing more than my annihilation, too.

Single-deck blackjack is harder and harder to find nowadays. Everyone wants to be a card counter, thinking it’s an easy payout, but they forget that when there are 4-5 players at a table, the deck is shuffled every hand. No point in counting then… so most of the time, the single decks are relegated to higher stakes, and touristy hours.

I can understand that. I normally stick to poker because I’ve been playing it the longest and consider myself above-average at it. That and I can milk some “free” gin and tonics while I’m playing.

I lost like $80 bucks in one blackjack sitting this weekend in the time it took me to order and receive my drink. Not fun.

Penny slots, my friend...

You don’t risk a lot, and when you’re ordering bottled beer, you know they can’t water it down.

We think alike…but I get bored very quickly at slots.
