Tex News?
Buried somewhere near the bottom of this article, Jayson Stark is saying that Braves are still actively trying to re-sign Tex and not looking to trade him. I might have missed something, but this was news to me.
Of course, at this point, with the way he's played this year, I'm not sure I'd even want to re-sign Capitan Slow Starter. But, it would be nice to get more for 5 prospects than a year and a half of a first baseman.
But, if we do end up trading him, or if he signs somewhere else, I can't help but wonder who will take over at first?

That doesn’t surprise me at all. I keep hoping that Tex just decides to stay put and agrees to a sensible deal with the Braves. I know he won’t admit it but I really think the contract stuff has had an effect on his hitting.

It would...
be nice to keep Tex around for a few years. But if we really are out of it by July 31st I am sure he would get some valuable prospects for us. The worst situation is we contend, he doesn’t resign, and we lost him. If we contend I think it would be worth it.

Everyone
keeps saying we have no shot at resigning him but I think we could do it easily. Glavine’s 8m. is off the books and Hamptons money is gone so we should get him easy.

Hampton
still costs us 6 mil next year to buyout his contract.

I thought Hampton was a free agent after this year? How does that cost us money? Not trying to be argumentative, just wondering.

he technically
isnt a FA after this year, its a 20M club option. If we decide to declien the option (if, haha) we owe him 6M as a buyout, as was mentioned. just wanted to clarify

I stand corrected
it’s the least the Rox could do.

Teixeria holds very little in trade value, unless it is to a team that thinks they can re sign him.
Baltimore will not be interested in a trade, because they know they will have a shot at him this off season.
The Yankees really do not have moveable chips, they wouldn’t move prospects for Santana, why would they for Tex.
The Red Sox, same as the Yankees.
Both the redsox and the yankees would love to have Teixeria. But both will probably wait till the off season to do so.

Disclaimer - this is a BS comment.
Maybe we should use Teixiera to trade to the Yankees to get a couple of not-quite-so-touted players, including Wilson Betemit, back to Atlanta.
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.
