Minor League Recaps: 6/18
Richmond - Off
James Parr was sent down after his lone start last night. I'm sure it was just double header spot start.
Mississippi 9, Montgomery 6
- J. Holt - 3-6 2 2B, 2 RBI
- J. Schafer - 3-4 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, K
- V. Pope - 2-3 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
- K. Kaaihue - 2-2 RBI, 3 BB
Tommy Hanson's flyball tendencies finally caught up with today as he gave up 3 homers in his 6 innings of work. This was probably his second worst start of the season but the team picked him up by scoring 9 runs in the first 5 innings to keep him on the hook for the win. Jordan Schafer had a good game after I ripped him a little yesterday, he's obviously a reader.... Kala Kaaihue has his average up to .241 now and has an OPS over 1.000 this month..
Myrtle Beach 1, Salem 3
- G. Hernandez - 1-4
- E. Campbell - 1-4 HR(4)
- B. Hicks - 1-3 BB, K, 2 SB
- C. Vines - 7IP 3H 0R 1BB 9K
Chris Vines comes back and flashes a little of the brilliance that he was showing at the beginning of the season after struggling a little in the last few games. This one was a pitchers duel until the 9th inning. Campbell hit his homer to give the Pelicans the late lead, but then Gonzalo Lopez gave up a 2 Run walk off to end it. The Beach is now 1-1 in the second half after clinching a playoff spot in the first half of the season.
Rome - Off
Burlington 3, Danville 10
- J. Teheran - 5IP 5H 3R 0BB 3K
- G. Rodiriguez - 3-5 2 HR(3), 7 RBI.....
- S. Moody - 3-5 2B
Danville started doing their stuff last night with a win but I wasn't really going to start posting their stuff until after the GCL started also (Friday BTW) but Teheran is started tonight so here he is. This Rodriguez guy has hit 3 homers in two games. Thats just dumb. He already has 10 RBI. Also dumb. He was a player that the Yankees signed and then released after last year and I guess we picked him up somewhere along the line. He is 20 now and won't turn 21 till October so he could be useful. Teheran wasn't great and I think they should consider sending him down. I mean I really expected more out of 17 year old making his professional baseball debut.
Ok here is the deal. I wasn't really planning to do much with the Danville/GCL stuff because honestly I don't know a whole lot about a lot of the players. They are mostly this years draft picks and young guys from last years draft. I was probably just going to toss them in with the weekly wrap-ups on the minors. But I can probably still toss them in there at night just to get the scores up there. Someone did say at the beginning of the year that one reason you guys wanted me to do this was because we might find the next big thing before anyone else knows and the low levels is a good place to do that. So here's our second poll of the day!

Rodriguez
his grand slam went over the dead center which is 400 and the fence is 15 ft high and it cleared it by a long shot. Julio didn’t pitch too badly I mean no walks he was on a pitch count from Runge and one of the runs should have been unearned. I thought he looked good and for a 17 year old making his pro appearance I call it a success. Just wait till he gets on track.
