Someone call a doctor
this time its not for a member of our pitching staff, its for me. I'm am legitimately freaking out. I live in florida and thus the decision of TBS to no longer carry Braves game, nearly driving me to depression and did drive me to quite the binge drinking. But back to my point, i "watch" games on CBS Gamecenter. So when the braves had the bases loaded with one out and french decided to strike out on 3 pitches, and then brandon jones (p.s. why is he better than josh anderson) flies out on the first pitch, i had that feeling that we blew our opportunity and this was confirmed when Reyes gave up the tying run due to some poor defense in the next inning. But then we had a glimpse of what this team can do, our "backups" blanco and infante carry the team to a victory in the ninth. And then miraculously we have a closer who "looks" (remember, im not seeing th pitches just having them tracked for me, but the sequence and location looked great to me) dominant (o and knock on wood, toss salt over your shoulder, rub your rabbits foot, whatever). O and the Ultimate FIghter was phenomenal tongiht (sorry sidenote) But when the game ended i almost started to hypervenialate i was so excited.. anyone else feeling good for one day this season( and its doesnt necessarily involve good feelings caused by Chipper, tho he did go deep)?

Conversely why is Josh Anderson better than Brandon Jones?

He’s faster . . . but you have a point.

the onyl thing
well primarly because i have josh anderson in my dynasty fantasy league, but more importantly, He gives us someone that cna lead off, i think, which then puts Yunel at the 2 hole (where he’s better), which moves KJ down to the 7th spot (where again i think he is better). Jones has more pop in his bat, but i dont think he can lead off, of course this point is moot if Blanco were to lead off, while i dont know if he’s capable of it.

I’m also a Braves fan who doesn’t get their games anymore on cable. Sad day when that last game came on TBS, I was fighting tears. But, after trying to watch the Astros, Rangers, and Cubs, I just couldn’t take it and broke down and got the MLB Extra Innings package. It’s a little pricey, but it’s been fantastic, and a small price to pay for a whole summer of the Braves (as well as pretty much every other game). Of course, this series with Texas is blacked out because I live in their marketing zone and theoretically I should be able to watch it on my normal cable station, but they’ve had the Astros on the last two nights!!
Of course, lately, the only thing more depressing than not watching the Braves has been watching the Braves.

EI
It is definitely worth the money. So far this year, there have only been 4 Braves games that weren’t broadcast, not counting blackouts in the “local” market, of course. Only complaint is the lack of HD. Some of the broadcasts almost look like the 70’s (last night I couldn’t read Salty’s name on at least one of the graphics). If MLB is listening, I’d pay more for HD (and we all know how much MLB loves money!)

Agreed...
...I’ll never go through another season without EI again.

MLB.Tv on the internet actually has close to HD quality with its 1.2mb stream. I say close to HD, because it’s better than the analog feed my parents get on Comcast’s extra-innings package. My brother and I have a computer hooked up to our HDTV and it works pretty well. I reccomend it.

Last year
I did that for the first 30 games or so and it kinda sucked because the pic quality was no better. But I know they’ve improved it this year. I just hate to tie up my computer for the whole game. Guess I need another!

Yeah, that’s basically the thing for me. Rather have my laptop free to surf the web during a game. Nothing like porn and baseball…ugh…did I say that out loud?

only works
if you include beer, othewise the experience is worthless

Every experience of mine involves alcohol. No further mention will be necessary.

LOL
this thread is the bomb….
MLB.TV is the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve never been in the ATL market, so i’ve had to use this for years. I have to say, this year is the smoothest since inception. There were a TON of glitches that they’ve worked through, and, the best part by a LANDSLIDE, is that now, according to which team’s stream you pick, you get to hear those broadcasters. Maybe its not for every team, or maybe the braves just have more away games that are broadcasted by ATL affiliates, but i seem to be listening to Braves announcers 3 out of 5 games or so, i’d say.
Listening to those Marlins announcers for four series’ a year was BRUTAL. THANK YOU MLB.TV!!!!!!

oh yeah, and.....
yes, its frustrating tying up a whole PC. BUT – even more frustrating? Chip’s up to bat, intense 5 pitch sequence thus far, all quiet on the TC front, and then BAM!!! Video gets choppy, pitcher winds up, and seven new posts appear going wild about the HR he just hit. And then the video might catch up. But usually you end up seeing a bunch of posts, you’ll get one or two seconds of screen shot following a choppy fly ball, then pandemonium as Larry Wayne runs through second base.
I’m not complaining though, even writing that made me laugh.

Haha, yeah seems like that does happen alot to the people who use MLB.tv. I used it last year (ie: used my roomates account) and it was okay. It’s just so much nicer being able to watch it on a HD TV then a laptop computer screen.
I’ve found a similar experience with EI, in that 75% of the time it’s the Braves announcers…which is cool. Although last night I had the Rangers guys and they were pretty dreadful. One of them constantly tried to tie the events of the game into TV or the movies. His opening comment went like this:
(montage of Eric Hurley pitching)
Guy: ...and there’s Hurley, who is also a character on the show Lost. However, this Hurley knows exactly where he is and looked lock in during his last start.
Really?

lol
a LOST reference in baseball??? Classic…..

Yeah man, it was horrible. There were at least two other times where the guy was just grasping to complete a reference, and his partner was just silent.

My least favorite announcer this year has been in Colorado! Their guy thought he was a stand-up comedian through the whole game, but he wasn’t very funny, just a loud, obnoxious, annoying homer.
But their sideline reporter, now she’s a different story…

Have you not seen Brandon Jones’s stat line in what little bit of time he has been up? His numbers are gaudy.

Yeah. I think he’s argument is that Josh Anderson never got an opportunity to start . . . and probably should have. BJ wasn’t really knocking the cover off of the ball when he was in Richmond, and JA was batting .318(ish) when he got sent down.

I have nothing against Brandon Jones, i think he is a good player, i just thing as i mentioned earlier that Josh Anderson adds more to the team. and what u said was exactly right, he never really got a chance, much like Stockman, which is weird becase of Bobby’s history of letting young guys prvoe themselves in the ML, francoeur, langerhans(ok so that failed but sitll), KJ, yunie, the list is extensive it seems.
