4 lefties
I read on Atlantabraves.com that when Gonzalez is activated the braves will send Stockman back to triple A richmond. That would leave Ring, Ohman, Gonzalez, and Ridgway. This isnt a tipical Bobby Cox bullpen and I struggle to come up with a reason why the braves would need so many lefties especially with Ohman pitching basically every other day if not more. I personally would much rather see Stockman pitch given the fact that he has done nothing but put zeros on the board since he got the call up. Any thoughts?

Nothing surprises me anymore
Other than we have a guy coming off the DL, not going on.
Go on, ask if anything surprises me.

I’ve been trying to figure out why Bobby won’t pitch Stockman for awhile now. I’m not surprised however.

I think that Stockman was caught fooling around with Bobby’s daughter. It is the only real answer.

Hypothesis
Someone’s getting traded. Based on some of the financial facts I read on other threads, it will likely be Ohman, unless we start doing better. Since someone’s getting traded, why not get some use out of those arms before unloading them onto another, and then bringing up the fresher, younger Stockman arm up later on?
No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I hope it isn't Ohman...
but he does seem a likely candidate. I just hope we get at least a few more Braves Live gems like this one before and if he is traded…

Ridgway
I have to think he’s being showcased, since 1) he stayed up when Gonzalez was actviated, even though he was the most logical guy to go; and 2) he pitched 1.2 innings last night, possibly to display what he could do as a non-loogy.
I don’t believe it’d be just him getting traded by any means, he’d be more of a throw-in/enhancement than a centerpiece.

I tend to believe that Ridgway is being showcased as well, why else would he stay rather than Stockman. There was early speculation that B. Jones was being showcased as well, so I wonder if the Braves have had some trade conversations that included the both of them for a SP.

Ridgway
What value if any can he have though. He isnt particularly young, he doesnt have that great a track record, and his stuff doesnt seem all that impressive,
Also i dont really want the SP that would cost Jones and Ridgway. I dont foresee them being any better than what we already have.

Can someone please explain to me the need to “showcase” a player? It isn’t as if you can’t see the player pitch in AAA, and probably pitch more often. It makes more sense to me to send a player down to showcase him, because there he’ll actually look effective.
Is it just so people can see that he can hit/pitch at the major league level? If that’s the case, I guess it sorta makes sense.

I love the difference between...
A player being “showcased,” and a player “auditioning.”
They’re essentially the same thing, in what the player is doing, but they hold different connotation when it comes to how they’re used.

Maybe the Braves feel obligated to put Ridgway in the Majors since Tampa Bay actually brought up Willy Aybar.
