Tex on Atlanta fans (kind of)
"When Andruw Jones came back to Atlanta this season, the fans booed him," Teixeira said. "If fans can boo Andruw Jones in Atlanta, they can boo anybody."
I went to that Friday game vs. Dodgers specifically to cheer Andruw, and I remember seeing some other true fans with Andruw jerseys cheering with me, and telling the clueless chicks behind me yelling that Andruw sucks to **** off. Did retards drown out the cheering, or is Tex just making a point?

Fans will be fans
And can cheer and boo for anyone they want. Their prerogative.
They booed Glavine when he left for the Mets, and yet still cheered for Maddux when he bolted back to the Cubs. Logic says Glavine because of the Mets, and Maddux because the Cubs aren’t really our rivals. But then Andruw gets booed for going to a Dodgers team who hasn’t been a regular season threat in almost over a decade.
All three left for monetary reasons, for the most part. It’s pretty much boiled down to if the fans like them the people themselves, or not, to determine whether someone is worthy of praise or boos.
Personally, I clapped for Glavine every time he came back to Atlanta in a Mets jersey. And I was at two of the Dodgers games in April, and I stood for Andruw in his first PA against us, and clapped when he homered on the Saturday game. After a decade of highlights and good memories, it’s the least I could do.

Tex should be happy he’s in Atlanta and not NYC. If he were a Met he’d be getting booed at this point. I like the guy, and wouldn’t boo him myself, but he needs to start hitting the friggin ball.

Fans are very fickle.
Need I cite any examples?

Alright
Andruw’s Fan Appreciation from pReceding Team (FART) percentage is 0.079% in 2008. Since he played for no pRior team before the Braves there are no stats earlier.
Glavine’s FART rating is approximately an abysmal 0.021%. Many Braves fans do not appreciate his defection to the Mets, and thus booed him. If only he allowed two more homers to Chipper Jones, then his rating would have plummeted to 0.014%, and fans would begin to cheer out of mercy as well as delight at seeing him tank against his former team. The only thing that brings it to its current FART rating is the fact that he came back to the Braves.
Teixiera’s FART rating is at a staggering 1.089% Texas boos him loudly, and even Atlanta’s own fans boo Teixiera for one of his trademark slow seasonal starts.

Just because I’m throwing out legitimate stats that even you’ve never heard of, doesn’t naturally imply that I’m being substance controlled.

I hope Glavine
Can light his FART on fire by coming back from the DL and winning a bunch of games.

I did some more number crunching
Along the anomaly that is Maddux’s positive 0.000 FART rating, and Glavine’s 0.021 FART rating, despite both leaving the Braves to free agency, I decided to look at another situation.
The Great Pedro Martinez leaves the Red Sox, and is able to maintain his strong 0.000 FART rating, as well as receive numerous standing ovations and public praise when returning to Fenway Park in the opposing jersey, where as Johnny Damon’s FART rating wafts up at a putrid 1.677, and is hated with an aggressive passion in Boston. Yes, defecting to the Yankees is worse than the Mets to Red Sox fans, but both did end up in New York, which confuses the great FART calculator.
