So we wait.....

As Braves Nation waits to hear the results, one of its favorite sons, John Smoltz, is currently having surgery on the shoulder that has launched over 3,000 strikeouts.  No one knows what we will hear once they wheel him out of the operating room.  Some hold out hope for good news, something to the tune of "all it was was this little thing, he can pitch in october if they need him!".  Others are 100% certain that a press conference will be scheduled tommorrow to end the career of a legendary pitcher.  Me, i'm already prepared to see that #29 on the scaffolding beside those other numbers: 3,35,21,41,44, and 42.  When i was at the game Friday (yes, that game, and i don't wanna talk about it), i was picturing where the number would go, what all it would entail (lights, wiring, etc).  How long is the period before the number is retired? If Smoltzy retires tommorrow, do they do it this year? Next year? 5 years from now? I have no idea.  It feels morbid to think like this, but i can't help it.

So in honor of ol' #29, i thought i'd post the pics from last time we saw vintage Smoltz.  almost didn't go to this game, it was a weeknight, and i live over an hour away. But i thank my lucky stars i did.
