Sooooooo
we could not have traded him to the Royals for a C prospect? Heck even a C- prospect. I guess $50,000 is worth more to the Braves I guess. Or maybe the Royals or any team would not give up nothing for him. Its just hard to believe that but apparently thats true though.

I just don't understand...
... why Pena isn’t a hotter commodity. I just don’t know how many major league teams have a backup catcher as good as Pena. He’s a good hitter, he hits from both sides, and he can run for a fat man. He’s not the best defenisive catcher, but not terrible. I still don’t know why Porky Miller is the better option behind the plate. I think I could out hit him.
Well...
..for the past year the Braves tried him at other positions pretty much signaling that the Braves didn’t look highly on him as a catcher. He played first, third and left field for Richmond last year. Trying to find another position but it looks like that might have been a failed experiment.
Doesn't surprise...
..me that it would be KC that would pick him up. Dayton Moore loves getting our scraps..
Oh, well.
Pena got the boot by the Royals:

Must suck to be him right now.
- Oh, Bobby. -
Here’s my though.
They call up Davies, DFA Pena. Listen, the Royals were the only team (we can assume) that wanted Pena. So Moore is taking a chance and trying to slip him through waivers a second time. I’m not sure what KC’s waiver priority is but I’m guessing if no on else wanted him – that he’ll make it through waivers a second time and be assigned to Triple -A Omaha.
