Reds @ Braves Game Thread and NAHWAL
Cincinnati Reds @ Atlanta Braves
For the first time this baseball season I have a weekend off and I will be spending it watching the Rome Braves take on the August Greenjackets. Should be interesting with two of the top hitting prospects in the lower minors (Angel Villanlona and Jason Heyward) going head to head.
Anyways the Braves will toss rookie Jo-Jo Reyes onto the hill against former Braves great Matt Belisle (pronounces Be-liz-el in my head). If you hadn't picked up on it through various comments and what not, I like Reyes and I have liked him since last season. His most glaring weakness was the walk and so far this season in Richmond he has only issued 8 in 23IP. That is much more controlled compared to last season. As long as he doesn't let his nerves get to him and he pitches the way that got him here he should be fine.
The offense should get a rebound day against Belisle (Be-liz-el), though now that I say that he will most likely two hit us. We shall see.
I will make my best attempt to take some pictures at the game tomorrow night and use them in a customary 3-day minor league wrap up post.

I know he’s been tearing up Triple A, but I just have this gut feeling Jo-Jo has lulled us into a false since of security. He had success in the minors last year, and it just didn’t translate. Honestly, I hope my gut is wrong this time around.

Agreed about Jo-Jo. I like his makeup, and can see legitimate potential, but it’s evident that he’s a mess of nerves on the big stage. His biggest test will be how he does after going through the order once.

He needs to...
... step up to the plate and prove that he’s not a AAAA player. If he keeps dominating at AAA and flopping at the ML level, he could earn that AAAA label.

SS/FSN has Katy Temple
Hell, FOX has Jeanne Zolasco
Yet, PeachtreeTV has JJ. Seriously, can’t they at least try?

I know nobody can compare to Erin Andrews, but can’t they at least choose someone moderately attractive and female to do their shows?
I know – Jamie Kotsay. Surely she can read cue cards, and has to know enough about baseball to BS her way through segments, as if we’d be listening to her speak. This way, she can stay with Mark, even on the road. And then we can all laugh at MLB’s version of Doug Christie.

I was actually reading on…Deadspin or the Big Lead…about this girl at Liberty University named SAMANTHA STEELE. Sounds like a porn name, but the girl is somehow MORE GORGEOUS THAN EA. Seriously. It feels a tad bit skeezy since she’s a college girl (well I’m still in college, so yeah), but still…dear sweet baby jesus.

Frenchy can’t buy a break right now. Keppinger is a lot better defensively than I ever gave him credit for.

But seriously
How great is it to hear Skip Caray doing TV? I guess Lemke is doing the radio with Pete…I really, REALLY miss Pete on the TV games, he’s so awesome. How him or Skip hasn’t won the Ford Frick Award yet, I have NO clue.

Kelly also cannot buy a break right now. Poor guy, he’s due to go on an INSANE tear soon and get that average up to a respectable range. I think its down to under .230 now.

I have a white Smoltz jersey, but I didn’t pony up for the “authentic” lettering. Seriously, its like an extra 80 bucks…I figured it was the safest bet at the time about 4 years ago, and I was right.
This year I’m looking at a red McCann or Francoeur. I want a Frenchy one bad, but the lack of a long-term deal has me nervous. McCann is a safer bet.
And of course, if we resign Tex…he is SO the pick next year. Also considering a 1974 Aaron, since that will NEVER get old.

Hmmm
You’re in Georgia, I’m assuming, so here’s a tidbit:
If you know where Peachtree City is, there is a Hibbett Sports store there that has decently priced Alt. Red Hudson jerseys (authentic black 15 w/ white lettering) on a regular basis.
Why? Because Huddy lives in Peachtree City. The owners said that he came in a few times, and gave them jokingly teases about how they didn’t have enough of his jerseys on sale.
