Braves Power Lunch 5/23

Has anyone been to one before? If so, can you give a brief synopsis/critique of teh experience? Conversely, is anyone planning on going to the one tomorrow? The planned line up is: John Smoltz, Blaine Boyer, Greg Norton & Brian Snitker.

Is it worth it? I mean, of course it is, since it benefits the Braves Foundation, but you know, finances are tight & all...but might be better spent on a field level seat or  half a tank of gas...hmmmm

Thanks!

I've heard good things...

... I wish I had known it was tomorrow—I would have made the trip form Upstate SC. Is there another one planned for this year?

Honestly

From what I’ve heard, these turn out to be like group motivational speeches, of some sort, lots of Q&A. For what they ask for, I’m not at all that interested, since most of the time, they generally use the same format – Attraction (Smoltz), Tag-alongs (Boyer, Norton-y), and coaching staff (Snitker). Sure, it’s interesting to be in the same room with them, but they look like boring business meetings to me on the commercials at the Ted.

But eventually, I imagine Glavine will be doing one of these later on in the season. If it can help me get his autograph on a ball to add to my collection, I’d do it. But their literature makes it sound like that might not happen…. so who knows!

No wonder nobody likes you, Tuttle... everything's a (Pujols) damn debate.

I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for the analysis…that’s along the lines of what I was thinking (but unable to form into such eloquence) the experience would be like. It is convenient that I work 2 blocks down from Maggiano’s, but I already put my forty hours in for the week and my usual Friday volunteer program is closed for the holiday…guess I’ll just enjoy a day off.
Thanks again for your insight! I’ll let you know if I hear of a way to get that Glavine autograph.

Totally unrelated question: how do you post photos in fanshots? I took a pretty decent one of Huddy the other night and I’m not all up on flickr or webshots or any of that…I mean, I will if I have to, but just thought I’d share with my fellow Braves fans first.

I’m more in Midtown, but I know where the Maggiano’s is, and I thought about doing it, but when I read the general details, I was more or less ambivalent, leaning towards no on it. I guess I should’ve done the FanPlaza thing in February to get Glavine’s sig, but I’m sure there will be other chances in the future.

Photos – I have the luxury of having server space to where I host all the photos I post during the game threads as well as Fanshots, but you’re pretty much correct. You’ll need a host (Flickr/webshots) to upload your photos onto, and then just copy the URL of the actual image, and enter that into the Image URL in the Fanshots prompt. I don’t care much for it, but the SBNation blog will automatically resize it to fit optimally in the entry.

I use Photobucket for my picture hosting. It’s free, doesn’t require any downloads, and very easy to use.

I was there Friday.

I will post again soon and tell you about it. I had a great time!
